heartbreaker armour aside - it's not what I would call ultimate
on 14 September 2013
This build is ok, but other than Iron Man and the Mandarin it has nothing to do with the movie "Ironman 3" as the box states.
You get 2 mini figures:
- Ironman - 2 faced - "Heartbreaker" armour printing - great printing torso (front and back) and legs (front only), and superb Ironman helmet. The front (gold) panel of the helmet flips up to show the "Tony Stark" face - this is, however, the same face(s) as you get in the "Avengers" builds. The suit comes with clear blue "thruster" bricks for the feet and hands.
- Mandarin - 2 faced - good torso printing (front and back) though the printing makes him look like he should be a baddy in the "Magnificent Seven" or a "Good, Bad and Ugly" type spaghetti western - very cowboy-ish. The beard is separate to the hair (as was such as Saruman in the Lego Lord of the Rings sets) and it covers most of the body printing.
The vehicle is not that impressive - it is supposed to be an armoured tank and yet it looks like a dune buggy with some rather nice orange tipped finger missiles. The build it quite easy and the buggy looks okay with its green highlighting, but it is hardly "ultimate".
To be honest when I see something labelled "Ultimate Showdown" I expect something more spectacular than this little set - at least something that had been in the movie.
This build has a RRP of 11.99 for 91 pieces meaning it's a not-too-bad 13 pence per piece, and you do get the very nice Iron Man "Heartbreaker" armour mini-figure.
