I re-called enjoying this series greatly when first shown, but wondered if it had 'matured' well since?
It has !
I appreciate its subtleties even more now, EVERY one of the main actors gives a superb performance (it's impossible to pick one favourite) and it captures a decade that now seems so 'safe' and 'secure'.
You can see glimpses of 'cinematic styles' that were to follow in (the great) '6 Feet Under', and of course 2 of the actors are now in 'Brothers and Sisters, but THIS was by far their best work.
The music, by Snuffy Walden, is of course now accepted as a classic of its style.
You'll need series 1 before you get it, but I heartily recommend this.
