4.0 out of 5 stars Caligula's Roman world brought to life!
You know that you're about to embark on a new year full of fine books when it kicks off with the publication of a novel by Robert Fabbri, one of the best writers of historical fiction about today. Vespasian, the 1st-century AD general who against all odds survived a succession of Rome's most nutty emperors to don the purple himself, is a worthy subject for a series of...

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read, 9 Feb 2014

An interesting mixture of Rome's turmoil and the beginnings of Christianity but not necessarily factually correct, this book has, as all Roman hero books have, our hero on a mission (or two). I preferred the writing to Anthony Riches books which have similar pair of main characters. This episode deals with theft and politics but does give a detailed insight to the lives of Romans during that period.
Worth a read although I have not read the next episodes to know whether they are better or becoming samey.

Found this an excellent read, especially towards the end as Caligula explains the reasoning behind his actions.Which may have been plausible in real life, nearly two thousands years ago!
