Read this over the summer holiday and couldn't put it down so much so that I ended up downloading the other books to find out what would happen next. Excellently written and very thought provoking in places. I felt the main characters highs and lows and also how it feels to be on the other side of the coin (but there is a part of me that thinks he must have known...surely). I loved the way that steena wrote about both parties and took into account their versions.I'm looking forward to reading other books by steena Holmes.i enjoyed it so much that even my mum has downloaded it onto her kindle. (I've tried to keep this review brief as there's nothing worse than someone giving away the ending or plot but I will urge you to read it ......)

At first I wasn't sure if "Dear Jack "added anytthing to "Finding Emma" but after reading "Emma's Secret" it all made sense. I know both books DearJack and Emma's secret were written after the first book but it would have been brilliant if they were contained in the same book. I recently read Emma's Secret and I couldn't put the book down.

That's a thought which goes through everyone, probably too many times in a lifetime. As Dottie's journal reveals, she goes through every kind of emotion while she and Jack are apart. Her jottings reveal the inner woman who needs to be cared for, yet also, shows the inner strength required when the person she longs for cannot be with her. A short, but riveting read.

I really enjoyed Finding Emma by the same author and was looking forward to this little book which is linked.
It didn't appeal at all. Some very mundane letters from husband to wife.
Skip this novella and go straight from Finding Emma to Emma's Secret.

This was the first book I read in the series and it gave a background to the family make up, when finishing both finding Emma and Emma's secret I felt it would have been nice to have the diaries for the intervening years but a great read all the same!

This was quite disappointing following `Finding Emma`
Despite the authors notes at the end u found myself deeply disliking Dottie and found her letters selfish and self centered. I'd recommend Finding Emma, but could give this book a miss.

I love this series of books by Steena Holmes. I first read "Finding Emma" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I then read "Dear Jack" followed by "Emma's Secret". All of them were very sensitively written and very moving.

Wonderful reading.I read finding Emma first and became hooked on this story. The letters from Dotty to Jack made me think of what it must have felt like for your loved one to be away at war and the mixed emotions felt.Excellent book.
