As others have said, the picture quality provided by this TV is dependent on the signal strength of the transmission. Where I live, I am in almost line-of-sight of the Heathfield transmitter at a range of about seven miles so I ought to get a good picture even with the supplied aerial or the August DTA240 High Gain aerial I purchased with the TV.
In practice, I can receive the main channels using the high-gain aerial at the front of the house (which looks towards the transmitter) but not anywhere else in the house - presumably due to the effect of internal walls, etc?
I wish to use the TV in the kitchen, so I have provided a signal from the chimney-mounted roof aerial which provides an excellent picture on all channels on other mains-powered TVs. The DTV905 is now connected to this aerial and, when using battery power, produces an excellent picture - albeit with rather "tinny" sound which is to be expected from such a small device. HOWEVER, as soon as the mains adaptor is connected and switched on, the sound disappears and the picture breaks up and is unviewable. Switching the mains adaptor off results in the picture and sound returning.
I believe that this may be due to a faulty interference suppressor, but contact with the August help desk proved unhelpful. There appears to be no way of getting just the mains adaptor replaced, so the entire product has been returned to Amazon for a refund.
Disappointing!
UPDATE
Replacement item now arrived which produces excellent picture quality on mains or battery, confirming my belief that the previous mains adaptor was faulty. Regrettably, the replacement has a new niggly fault. Every time the unit is switched on, sub-titles are displayed. Switching sub-titles off using the remote seems to remain effective only until a different channel is selected or the unit is switched off.
I also find the User Manual to be pretty useless.

Please read my long review of the 10" August TV as the details are all the same.

No need for batteries with this model as it has a built in battery.

Still has same tuning problems away from roof top aerial

You can save programs from TV on to a portable hard drive while at home. Can anyone else say if you can then watch these programs/films out and about later. I mean using it like a dvd player without the dvd.

We needed a small TV for the kitchen and it is perfect for the job. Very good picture once connected to the loft aerial as we are in a weak signal area. Shame there is no standby button on the remote control as the on/off switch on the side of the unit is fiddle to use. The only other thing that spoils the appearance is that when connecting to an outside aerial the lead is fully visible at the top of the unit

First the major cons:

I wanted this as a portable screen for my Mac Mini. It said it had an HDMI port so that would be fine. Unfortunately not the case. Firstly it has an HDMI port, but its a mini port, not a full sized HDMI port as stated in the description. So that's a £12 extra you need to spend as a mini HDMI cable is not included. Secondly, the port doesn't work with any of the five devices I tried to connect to it. Mac Mini, Samsung TV, Sony DVD Player, etc, etc... Just a Blue screen on the AV setting. The other issue is that it would intermitently let out a death curdling scream like warble, that sounded like a dying bird, dreadful. Amazon gave me the email address of the manufacturer, but nothing heard.

As others have said, its inbuilt ariel is totally inadequate for most UK TV locations. Works fine if you have a loft or roof mounted aerial, but that just defeats the portability benefit. However, TV was not the main reason for purchasing this item. The remote control is a bit hit and miss if you stand too close to the screen, so you need to be at least 2 meters away for a consistently good connection. The sound is incredibly tinny from the in-built speakers, but surprisingly good from connected headphones, but they were Bose.

As to the positives. It has a good solid build quality and looks very nice. The picture quality is also very good and the screen can be viewed from a number of angles without noticeable picture quality loss. I have not tried the battery only operation, but if it achieves over 2 hours that's not bad.

Unfortunately, I have had to send mine back, as it is not fit for my purpose and possibly might be faulty, shame. Normal hassle free response form Amazon.

I wanted a small screen TV for portability. I can watch this in bed or in my car (had to buy a power converter).
It has excellent quality picture and sound.
I have no complaints about this product!

I love this little TV, it's small enough to be kept in my glove box, the screen looks as good as any I've seen and I can use it to watch my movie downloads on my living room set.
