There were some elements regarding the personal lives of the main characters that might have distracted from the main basis of the story, but I thought all in all it told the story well including featuring three brave Pakistan nationals who were significant in helping track Bin Laden down, but have never before been acknowledged.
It probably is more for TV but I would equally have enjoyed it at the cinema.
Good watch!

Well it's fun to watch but anyone with any experience will recognise Mumbai, right down to the old Fiat taxis and Mumbai number plates, and distinctive recognisable areas.

Plus anyone who has ever lived in South Asia knows that the IT infrastructure just ain't that good, and is constantly monitored by the local cops. Satellite phones are illegal and if you're not part of the local security set-up you're probably toast if you use one...

Still, technical stuff aside, everyone knows the story, and at least they don't show anyone being tortured for information and the film is entertaining and well acted...

With such a important subject matter it can be very easy to go overboard with getting points across and losing the realism that I feel should be present with Military based features. Code Name: Geronimo is not a victim of this at all. It never felt like there was a wasted minute in the film, everything felt relavent and most importantly integral to the film. If you're looking for something unique it's production, a film that's well cast and overall does it's job perfectly then it's well worth going out of your way to see this, whether your a military aficionado or not - which I should note, I'm not.

This felt very made for TV. It watched more like a TV documentary or dramatisation as opposed to a film. Keep that in mind, don't expect anything more and you'll be able to sit through it quite happily.

However, if you're expecting a quality, action-packed Hollywood blockbuster or something akin to the vastly superior Act of Valour or Zero Dark Thirty you will be sadly disappointed. Just don't expect too much, imagine you're watching it on Channel 5 and you probably won't be too disappointed.

Also, be prepared for the usual U! S! A! Hoo-rah! approach and propaganda. Cut with real life news footage and Obama sound bites - along with cheesy, interview style, talks to camera from the Seal Team 6 members (or at least the actors portraying them) about what it means to be a 'warrior' - this film somehow manages to feel even more like a recruitment film for the US military than normal... And that's really saying something!

Well it was entertaining I suppose, but Zero,Dark 30 is much better. I'm not sure why all the homelife crap was included, just a distraction. With ZD30 you can really feel the tension as the team gone on the mission, whereas Geronimo is pretty flat, even boring.

Whilst I did not expect this to be an all action film I did find it very poor in terms of content and over simplification. A lot of the "facts" are now known to be wrong and it gives little impression of the danger there must have been or the situation that presented itself.

The acting is not great and the plot tagged together and could have been done better based on what is in No Easy Day and Operation Geronimo. Some of the sequences with the Seals shooting card targets.....well I'm no expert but Im guessing that if you get to the point where you are on Seal Team 6 that your ability to hit a card targets isnt something they waste your time with.

It's difficult to criticise and not spoil it for people who do want to watch it.

The "antics" of the CIA spies throughout are almost comedic, and makes it seem like the CIA's best asset is now a webcam...... and the film bills it as the mission to "kill or capture" Bin Laden....when its since become pretty clear that this was a mission to kill him in all but the most extraordinary circumstances. This point is pushed by various CIA characters in the film and is typical of how the films feels the need to "dance" around what became hard facts about this mission. You also have the "act of valour" inspired moments depicting the Seals home lives.....and this then seems to set out to show mostly how they are in broken relationships or no relationships, which is contrary to what most literature says about this type of soldier. The first ten mintures have nothing to do with the actual events and just add unnecessary plot elements to the film involving the loss of a comrade. Why add needless details ? Why waste screen time about a 10 year hunt with fiction ?

Zero Dark Thirty will, I feel, be a better portrayal of events around this moment in history.

Very good film; shows the clinical operation from the military point of view as opposed to being pandering to the film buffs.

Not as good as Zero Dark 30 as this film doesnt nearly tell the story in the same amount of datail as ZD30 does.

Well produced film and very entertaining, with a good story line based on actual events. Good mix of lead up events and subsequent action.

Blu-ray quality very good
