for me personally, i wasnt a huge fan of game of thrones as a tv score. i was perhaps more smitten with all Ramin's modern US tv drama like Prison Break and his game scores. So this score is a return of this sensibility and attention to detail.
The score found on this CD is some of the most emotive and creative music for TV i have heard in a long time. He sculpts the emotion perfectly into the sens of tension and his bold themes are familair across the series and welcomed.
Not a lot of composers in TV, play a longer thematic almost movie score like approach to there score to picture duties but Ramin does this in spades. He has successfully tied in a "extra character" in the music and given us tell tale markers.
i write music for TV and have done so for many years, so Ramin's work is something of a "going to school" education for me.
His usage of well designed and filtered sounds, both organic and electronic demonstrates his ability to fuse these very stark bed fellows and provide something deep and organic in the process.
If you havent heard his music to this series, you simply have to hear it in situ so to speak. Once you get into the first 2-3 episodes, you will be completely hooked.
