This game is fantastic, but for one big travesty in the form of 'Games for Windows live'
I bought this for my son to play on his PC,not realizing you had to be signed into GfWL to save progress.
Having installed the game you then have to sign into GfWL! no problem i thought ,i'll use his Xbox 360 GfWL account, WRONG!!!
11 hours later (yes you read that right)i had the game up and running on a totally new account and password.
GfWL would not accept his original account and password, and then would not accept the new account and password that we had setup just to run the game.
MICROSOFT, GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE SUCKS!!! GET IT SORTED.
The game itself is,as i say, fantastic, top notch graphics ,top notch dialogue and voice acting, superb animations make this a MUST HAVE game.
I played this when i could get a look in and i must admit i am addicted, you find you just have to do one more puzzle, one more fight and then realize you
should have gone to bed hours ago, even the boss fights are manageable to an old timer like me.

Arkham Asylum was a groundbreaking game for me. I loved the atmosphere, the varied and highly imaginative gameplay, the problem solving, and the superbly animated and free-flowing combat. It was engrossing, compelling, and had a far better storyline than most games. ARKHAM CITY promised more of the same and I looked forward to it immensely. Well it delivered in some respects but disappointed in many. The overarching fault with CITY is that Rocksteady have crammed too much into one game. It’s the game equivalent of bloatware. Combat is less fluent due to too many new moves, some of which you are forced to use. The short, somewhat underwhelming main story is interrupted too often by side missions and the ridiculously numerous riddler challenges and trophies. And the open world structure, coupled with the often intrusive side missions, diminish the sense of urgency in the narrative. There are also too many villains jammed into one story. It may seem odd to criticise something for doing too much but sometimes less really is more. On the plus side you get to play as Catwoman and Robin as well as Batman and some of the enhancements do improve gameplay. In conclusion, CITY is a good game and is fun to play, but it’s not as impressive as Rocksteady’s admirable original. Oh, and good luck trying to get at all 440 Riddler trophies!

3.5/5

I recently bought a refurbished Dell XPS 15 and subsequently discovered lots of on-line complaints about epic fails of: the wireless, the track-pad and gaming performance (throttling). I was quickly able to establish that the first two problems did not appear. I bought three new-ish games to check out the gaming performance (which also seems perfectly okay); the last of which is this title. I have Windows 8 on this machine (it's not that bad - download Start8 from Stardock for 5 notes) and getting it 'to work' was a complete 'mare! The whole process took about 6/7 hours (Google is your friend)! So beware: making this work on Windows 8 will likely require a great deal of patience, and even then you still might fail. This is also my first experience of GFWL - what a croc! I understand the need to protect copyright; but this feeble attempt will NOT stop the pirates and is infinitely more likely to put off genuine consumers (I certainly won't be going through all this again - life's too short). Oh yeah the game...well, if you can get it working - it's fantastic. So, the game *****, ease of installation *, = overall score ***. On balance, buy a console version if you can and maintain the will to live. Peace.

I originaly bought this on xbox on release, played the krap out of it then sold it. Months on i have bought the PC version it was cheaper here than on steam.
I truly love this game I have had many hours of enjoyment from it and recommend people considering this to buy it.
Good Points
I love the art style. It has a slightly Gothic feel that creates an excellent atmosphere.
Combat. The free flowing combat does pack a punch and i feel sorry for the grunts who feel my wrath! it does feel easy after a certain amount of time but this lets you concentrate on the story, after you complete the game you can play the game on hard with no prompts.
I say complete the game even when i go on now i still find stuff i haven't done yet.
The game is full of eater eggs and little details that you don't often find in games.
Voice acting.
Extra content.

Style wise this game leans towards the Tim Burton batman film and comics and stays away from the more realistic Christopher Nolan versions.

Bad Points
I have to wait until the new batman game comes out.

Seriously, this is an amazing game and you should play it if you have the time. Thanks to the creators for the hours of fun I had playing this game. Oh and make sure you have a decent PC since the graphics rock when you do, much better then the console version,

Great game, though the content is a little disappointing as in America they also got a free download of the excellent animated feature Batman: Year One. However for what the price is now definitely worth it for the extra content, playing as Catwoman makes the game 10 times better! All in all an unmissable game, definitely get it!!!

I love this game. I bought it after the Arkham Asylum one which I admit to using a trainer (cheat) to beat some of the opponents in the boss fights. I love the grapple pulling you around and the Catwoman part too. The gliding/flying is my favourite ability. Not too many cut scenes, and you have to rely on Steam being up and running to play. I usually play offline once registered with them due to dodgy broadband connection, but it is a great game for the price.

Not played a lot of it so far but the story seems good and it looks great.
For those buying it now be aware that 'games for windows' no longer supports the title so you will need a steam account to play it. You can use the same product key to register the game on steam and if you have installed from the dusk then just copy that file into your steam folder to save you downloading the whole thing (it worked for me).
