Lacks emotional tone, but nevertheless well sung
on 25 June 2015
The songs are sung professionally and often even beautifully, but what is missing is an emotional content. With good production and technique, and this lady has it in spades, most of the tracks come out excellently. But with tracks such as "Bring in the Clowns, and Lionel Bart's "As long as he needs me" she doesn't make it. The Bart cover is a black emotionally-complex piece, and requires, if not someone who has been there, someone who has been at least part of the way. This lack in Miss Boyle shows through, because she does not understand the tension involved
Nevertheless the album is good buy, and no one can criticise her singing ability.
