5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book by brilliant player
Richie McCaw has something to say about modern rugby and his role in it. This is not a canned autobiography but a book about someone who thinks deeply about his sport and gives us huge insight into the game. Very hard to put down and lavishly presented. One of the best sports books produced.

3.0 out of 5 stars expectations definitely not met
Not the read I was expecting. If I wanted a full blow by blow of certain games I would have got the deaf persons guide to the games played on the tele. I would have liked to read more about his childhood and other experiences. This book however did change my view on Graham Henry and as such look forward to reading his book. Would only recommend this book if you fancy...

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, 19 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Real McCaw: Richie McCaw: The Autobiography (Kindle Edition)
I hoped this might give more insight into the pressures of being a sporting icon of a nation in the run up to a home world cup. Unfortunately this was little more than a chronological tale of rugby scores in the four years prior to the 2011 world cup.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read - rugby fans need only apply though, 2 Jan 2013

It was great to learn about one of my rugby heroes although I found the minute-by-minute analysis of some games unnecessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good example of the genre., 28 Nov 2013

This review is from: The Real McCaw: Richie McCaw: The Autobiography (Kindle Edition)
A top book about the professional highly pressured life of one of the most famous, influential and well liked blokes in NZ and the rugby playing world.
It also gives some insight into his private life, but only the important stuff. No "Hello", News of the gutter press, headlines with Richie.
I have read it twice already!

4.0 out of 5 stars All Black's finest's redemption, 10 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Interesting view into the mindset of one of the game's greats as he seeks redemption for one of the French's smash and grab raids. Concentrates on a very narrow passage of time in his life, and offers nothing controversial - his view of Wayne Barnes is shared by many!
