This game has it all. Cooperative and competitive, friendly and cut-throat. Plays just as well with 2 players as it does with 4 or 5. This seems quite a daunting game to learn at first, but it's actually quite simple. Especially as the first turn is actually part of the initial set-up so players learn about the core concepts over the course of a few turns. I've played it with a few non board gamers and they've loved it.

For starters

I have more then 30 board games excluding expansions. Starting from monopoly and alias to catan and ticket to ride and ending with games like SM Civilisation and Battle star Galactica. From euro style, to "ameritrash". So I might know a thing or two about board games.

I would recommend this game to anyone who likes euro style games and wants a good in depth board game. Don't be afraid of the "euro" tag on it though as it's not as difficult as it looks.

Basicly it's a mix of puerto rico, a bit of catan and [insert any exploration and co-op game you like].

What is it?Semi cooperation, exploration, goods production, woker placement. game. I might have missed a few "sub-types". Because he borrows a number of ideas, but thats a really good thing.

Another point to mention "luck" is not a factor here (no dice to roll). It's as much of a factor as it is in real life, so how the game goes - will depend on you, not some random numbers you roll.

Is it language dependent? NO. Aside from the rule book and the special cards, but they are always visible to all and are very easy to explain. For everything there is a simbol. Explain once or twice and your done.

Some nice words that have to go with every review:

The atmosphere of the game is great which is very rare to see these days. You just don't act, like your exploring by performing acertain action and just getting a reward for that, here it really feels like you are exploring an island and what you find changes how you manage the settlement. though don't expect this to be a historicly or "politcily" correct game. It's only a game.

Now to the real "meat" of the game:

Quality is superb. Great artwork, peaces and tokens are made from wood (as it's "required" for every euro style game), the game tyles are made from strong cardboard so they will handle time well.

The box.

Again, great. I could go for hours how it is important to have a decet game box. Very rarely you can find a box, that is designed for the game in a way, that everything is stored where it has to be. Mostly it's just a " throw everything random in -box". So no extra resealable plastic bags needed. Unless you are that extra extra tidy person.

Rulebook.

Explains eveyrthing nicely and in great detail. I've got only a few quirks with it as some of the special card meanings are vaguely explained. It's not a big deal but it gives you some things to argue about with your playmates.

Gameplay.

Fun. Now, jokes aside, it's nothing too fancy - you explore an island, find resources, place workers, get goods, sell them, get curency, buy buildings or improvments (cards) for your settlement, bargain with other players and avoid that the rebels win because it's a game over for all. It's not a cooperation game mind you, but it FORCES cooperation at certain times in the game. The catch? Well you don't want to help too much, because it could cost you the game. Oh, and someone of the palyers might be interested in helping the rebels, because he will win, when they win. The game offers a lot of ways to win and mostly because you draw special cards, that dictate the length of the game and also the victory conditions(for what will you score points) as the end game conditions. These cards (exept one) are only known to each player seperetly and that is what makes it even more fun. There are three types of said cards, so you can chose between short/medium/long games. Either way, the game takes it's time to play, so don't expect a "quickie" if you have just an hour to spare.

Each playthrough is unique, because the island is always changing, the winning and end game conditions change.

So for conclusion - it's worth the price.

Now in case someone of my native language would ever be reading this (that would be a surprice, trust me), I'm gonna do the same thing, just in my language...

Reziumuojant - jis vertas savo kainos.

Pristatymas.

Į LT man jį pristatė daug greičiau nei aš siuntinius gaunu pačios LT ribose.

This game uses a range of mechanics in really interesting ways to create the experience of colonisation. Experiencing these mechanics with friends is bound to produce amazing stories, like the forgotten pineapple that brought the colonies back from the brink of collapse.

I'd recommend learning the rules on your own first before involving other players, as you can explain the concepts quite quickly if you understand them but it takes a while to wrap your head around all the interlocking mechanics. Once you pass this hurdle, it's all chill in the Archipelago!

My husband and I have played this three times and have enjoyed it more each time we've played. Although it is described as a semi-cooperative game it gets quite competitive, at least in our house! The internal and external markets are a really good feature, with purchases and sales having knock-on effects for the number of rebels and free workers. In fact, virtually every action you make in this game will have several knock-on effects elsewhere. The combination of double-sided map tiles and secret objectives and end-game conditions mean that every game is very different to the last.

Everything was fine. Shipping, packaging, product quality, and that it matches the description.
The only thing missing is that the sellers could put the description available from boardgamegeek from more information.
The game is one of the best I have, the semi-cooperative element just adds a different flavor to the game. Only thing is, it seems a bit too omplex for some people. But overall great!

Great game. It looks amazing when out on the table and is full of strategy. It's such a strange game a 4X strategy game but co-op and with no war as such.
