4.0 out of 5 stars Takes Its Time
Ive waited till now to write a review for this cd,as I wanted to give it a fair chance. Its so different from Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful, that I didnt quite know what to make of it.I was instantly struck by 30 Minute Love Affair and When Youre Gone, but the rest of the tracks didnt resonate with me,at least not first time around.Ive listened to it half a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Missing Track
When i bought this CD as a present for my girlfriend I had assumed that it would include all the tracks that I had seen advertized. To our disappointment, it was missing the track 'Never Tear Us Apart', even though I had paid the full price for the 13 track edition.

Not sure who's to blame for this one. Partly me for not double checking track list when buying...

Like many new albums you have to listen a few times to really understand and like what is being offered. This is another great album from Paloma Faith, and the more i listen the more I like it.Paloma has plenty to say and she says it loud and clear in her songs and with depth and understanding of the world around us.

Paloma's first album 'Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful' was like opening a box of delights. This second offering 'Fall To Grace' is more like opening a box of nails (cold, steely and emotionless), all thanks to some awful production from Nelee Hooper. Don't get me wrong, Paloma has come up with some good emotional lyrics here and a few good melodies but, they have lost any potential of being great songs due to what I can only call 'lazy' production. There are some good songs here, 30 Minute Love Affair, Black And Blue, Just Be and my personal favourite 'Let Your Love Walk In'. But take a track like Agony, a song with heartfelt lyrics turned into a Europop recording; it's agony to listen to. Or another example, Freedom, a song which has gospel tinges to it and should be a stirring gospel that uplifts the listener... hard to do when you have those awful tin drum beats all over it! I still love Paloma Faith and I'm sure these songs will sound great in concert but please, Paloma, no more Nelee Hooper for the third instalment. If you are reading this and unsure whether to buy this album, all I can say is please get the 2 disc version; at least you get 5 stripped down versions of some of the better songs.
