All the books in the Star Force series are a great read. The story starts simply enough with a swarm of vacant alien spaceships coming to earth to find someone worthy of commanding each ship to fight against another alien force. However, this is just the start of things. There are plenty of twists and turns as the story unfolds.

Kyle Riggs, one of those originally picked up by The Swarm as a potential commander, must learn how to understand the alien techknowlogy and then how to develop it to fight against the greater threat known as the Macros. It is quite a rollercoaster ride as he has to develop new weapons, ships and tactics to fight against an ever increasing threat and an enemy that never stops. Not only that but he has to fight against forces from Earth who would love to see him and Star Force destroyed.

There aren't too many books that I have read where I have felt that I have to read the next chapter right away just in order to see what happens next but this series of books does just that. The story is engrossing, the characters are believable and likeable, the dialogue is good too. You never get to the point where you can guess what is going to happen next or work out how the next battle will be won.

If you have already read some of the Star Force books you will know what I mean. If not, then start reading - you won't be disappointed. I and currently reading the next book after this one. I hope B V Larson writes more books in this series.

This book is a very good continuation of the Star Force series. It carries on the BV Larson tradition of blind-siding the reader with unexpected plot twists and an almost unimaginable scale of military involvement in almost every chapter and has definitely been worth the wait. Rig's Pigs are a force to be reckoned with and, trying not to give anything away, I was amazed at how they got out of their latest death-defying engagement even if it may have been partly (or wholely) sheer dumb luck.

I recommend this book and have been suggesting it to everyone I know but I do suggest starting from the beginning (Swarm (Star Force Series) so that you can absorb and appreciate the full depth of each character.

I've never read past a book 4 of any series before, always though authors run out of fresh ideas and entertainment, but BV Larson has a true gift of being able to engage and entertain, really exciting and immersive with some sparks of wit and humour.
His machine buddy and other creations in the books are unique and adds another layer to this grand space opera.
I will be buying the 7th as soon as the ink is dry!
Make sure you start from book 1, Swarm

What an excellent addition to the Star Force series. I read this in less than a week, and at no time did it seem "samey" to other books in the series. Please please please carry on the series. Possibly seeing Riggs become the leader of a huge biotic alliance and taking on the Macros directly???

Empire continues the story of Riggs Pigs the nano enhanced soldiers from earth defending against the machines (macros) and other alien races and even earth forces. Gripping and enjoyable from start to finish, a must read if you have read the other books in the series.

Once again Riggs and his pigs are in the preverbial poo!! Attacked from all sides including his own! What will become of the usurped Star Force and how will Riggs deal with the Empire?

Can't wait for the new book to come out. Keep it up Mr Larson.

I AMA fan of Larson. He keeps you interested, and wondering about what is going to happen to the characters. His universe is enthralling and really well developed. Read them all...and will read the rest, cannot wait for the newest edition.

Love the Star Force Series - the latest is just as good as the rest :) I would urge you if you haven't read the rest to go back to number 1, and start from there.....

B.V. Larson produces some great sci-fi, yet again :)
