I was looking for a light fitting to go in my little boy's "new big boy bedroom" and since he loves tractors, that's what I was hoping to find since I'd already spend some good money on Laura Ashley fabric to make his curtains. Anyway, after a very long search, the only decent looking light fittings I could find were very pricey. Until I thought that perhaps I could make one, and looked on YouTube where I found a video about those kits. I ordered the 30cm one and I've just finished making it, it took me 30 mins all in all and I am very happy with it. It looks the same as if I had bought it ready made in a shop and obviously matches perfectly the theme / colours in my little man's room - all for a fraction of the price of a shop bought one that wouldn't have matched with what I had anyway. Def recommend using this is you can't find what you want in shops / online.

I was asked to make a lampshade to match the Roman blind I had made for my son's new house! I was sceptical about making a lampshade but I can honestly say I was thrilled by the result. The instructions were easy to follow and well written and there was plenty of the double sided tape used in the process.

If I need another matching lampshade, I know where I will turn to!

I found this easy to make without help, but I would definitely recommend watching the video before you start (the link is in the product description). My only problem was that my material tended to fray which left an untidy finish. I have subsequently made matching shades for bedside lights with the 20cm kit, and I used pinking shears to cut the long edge (but not the ends) to prevent fraying. When choosing fabric, it would be better to choose one that won't fray. Rather than use the finishing tool to tuck in the edges, I just used my nails which I found much more effective. I am very pleased with the result.

My first attempt at making a lampshade, the instructions are easy to follow, finishing the bottom and top edges was a little fiddly as my fabric frayed which meant I had to tuck in all the threads, but the result I achieved looked professional, very easy to make and I would not hesitate to make another lampshade as the kit was great.

I'm not creative at all and I managed this with the help of the YouTube video
Would buy again
Worth the money because I couldn't buy shades to match my curtains and if I could have they would have cost more than this

I love this kit!
I saw something like this being used on TV and I instantly wanted one.
I used it almost as soon as it arrived, the instructions are easy to follow and the out come is fantastic.
The one bit I found fiddly was putting the two rings on as the pvc kept rolling back, however with an extra pair of hands (my lil boy) it was all done in 10 minutes and looks amazing. The light shade is going to look fantastic in the newly decorated room :-)

I couldn't wait to make my new lamp shade. I set aside a couple of hours but it actually only took 30 mins or so. It is easy to do as long as you follow the instructions and plain or a random patterned fabric is easier to use as you don't have to do any accurate lining up. With the fabric and kit I made a bespoke shade for less than £20. I now have the job of making one for my sister.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys doing crafty stuff.

Simple to make great professional looking lampshade. Found watching utube Kath Kiddson clip beforehand helpful. I used a heavier fabric, but think a medium one would work better. As tucking in edges would be neater. Still rated 5 * as I now have the lampshade I could not have otherwise obtained.

I purchased these as I couldn't find any lampshades I liked.
I used good quality wallpaper, which looks great.
Instructions were easy to follow.
A little skill is required to make a really neat job but take your time and you'll have created something unique.
