5.0 out of 5 stars Hungarian Kickassody
At long last, after 25 years or thereabouts, Queen's famous Budapest concert is finally remastered and released in the West. Get the Deluxe editions if you can - you get the concert itself on a DVD or Blu-ray Disc (whichever format you choose), plus two CDs with the COMPLETE concert, unlike the video which is edited (the Hungarian government at the time discarded the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Box is not as shown in amazon.co.uk picture
The picture on amazon.co.uk shows a standard plastic Blu Ray case for the product, which is what I would have preferred. But actually mine arrived as folding digipack, which I dislike as they are much less hard wearing. Why the discrepancy between the picture and the supplied goods? I'm sure Advertising Standards and the Sale of Goods act have things to say about this...

At long last, after 25 years or thereabouts, Queen's famous Budapest concert is finally remastered and released in the West. Get the Deluxe editions if you can - you get the concert itself on a DVD or Blu-ray Disc (whichever format you choose), plus two CDs with the COMPLETE concert, unlike the video which is edited (the Hungarian government at the time discarded the unused footage, which no longer exists).

Included with the concert is "A Magic Year", a short half-hour documentary chronicling the band's lives from their show-stopping performance at Live Aid up until the Magic Tour itself. Well worth checking out. A nice little addition to this release is a booklet which provides all the usual Queen information, and, as a bonus, the lyrics to "Tavasi Szel Vizet Áraszt", so if you fancy a singalong, then it's right up your alley.

Loved it when I saw it at the cinema, love it now. Don't hesitate - go buy it. It's superior to the Wembley gig in almost every way (although some numbers do sound better at Wembley than on this gig, but it's only a few). Go get it. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Music (BluRay version), 13 Nov 2012
This review is from: Hungarian Rhapsody (Blu-ray)
First off I bought the VHS version when it first came out amazing concert and I agree Freddie is the greatest singer thats ever lived a true genius Brian,Roger and John are also performing amazing at this show four incredible song writers who can match anything the Beatles have ever wrote, colours are more vibrant on the Blu-Ray version sound is great but I'm not impressed with the video quality very grainy and blurred at times its more like a dvd version not HD quality, this is not anywhere near the video quality of Queens Rock in Montreal BluRay that is jaw dropping which looked like it was just filmed its that crystal clear with no grainy parts etc, if your thinking of buying this it is definitely worth buying amazing show amazing musicians but dont get the BluRay theres no difference in video quality thats why i give 4 stars out of 5.

This review is from: Hungarian Rhapsody (Blu-ray)
This is hands down the best capture of Queen in their performing years with the original quartet. Three main reasons why this is superior to Wembley '86: 1) The filming: the best crew in Hungary was used + it was recorded onto real film tape (wembley used video), so the picture quality is way beyond Wembley, only Rock Montreal comes close. 2) The show was at night - you can get the impression of the lighting design like Queen intended the audience to see it. 3) I'm not certain this is a fact, but the audio recording also seems better, more definition.

Great live recording of Queen's visit to Budapest in 1986. The only thing that spoils it slightly is the concert is interrupted a few times with short film clips of the band going around Budapest. I would have preferred that these were edited out and shown as part of a documentary.
