It's taken forever for the ZFT to put this on CD. The first Zappa album I ever bought back in 1969 & still a favourite of mine. If you like Frank you will love this. What's unique is that although all the titles are available on other albums, the different mixes & edits have always made it a collectors piece. I'll shut up now so you can get on & order it!

The other reviewer points out that all of the material here is available on FZ or Mother's releases from "Freak Out" to "We're Only In It For The Money" (though none of "Lumpy Gravy" is on this), but in slightly different formats from the versions on "Mothermania".
If you're new to FZ, I'd buy the CDs starting with "Freak Out" and finishing with "Ruben and the Jets", I must confess that "Mothermania" is for the Zappaphile rather than the novice.
Those of you who shelled out for the ZFT's download only version of "Mothermania" must be rather angry at Gail's shameless lust for cash, but I doubt any of us are suprised.

OK, it's great music... But you knew that already. Some of the tunes on this compilation do sound a bit different than the album versions. And if you like to notice and enjoy such small diversions in the conceptual continuity; then get this CD or buy the original LP in some obscure second hand vinyl store!
