I have had many, many HP printers over the years and never experienced any difficulty in setting them up but this one is IMPOSSIBLE. Have struggled all morning and it just prints a line of rubbish. Nightmare. Computer tells me that device is correctly configured, test page printed fine but it will not print any document that I send it.

I've very happy with my HP Laser Printer. I think its better to buy this printer than the more expensive ones because if you buy a £300 printer and it breaks in 3 years time, the money it costs to repair it (£60 labour plus parts etc) is the same as buying another brand new HP M251n.

I have to say I am disappointed with this printer. It looks like I am going to have to contact HP and get it replaced due to a hardware fault (from what I have been able to gather about the issue from their forums). The printer ghosts all colour prints from documents, but works fine for pictures. You end up with an unreadable 3D effect which is not good when the main reason I purchased the printer was for colour documents and not pictures. The printer is also incredibly noisy, but this could be due to the hardware fault.

Unfortunately I spent too long trying to sort the problem out and missed the deadline to just return the printer to Amazon which is very annoying.

It does print fine in black and white.

Great printer for the money less than £80, much less than half price of 4 new HP toner cartridges, so easy to set up using usb cable (not supplied) on both Windows 8.0.1 and XP machines highly recommended.

Great printer for the money. Easy to set-up and use. Fast quality printing with the addition of printing direct from an ipad. A better, more comprehensive instruction booklet would be helpful.

My ageing Samsung (b/w) laser was past its best and this replacement has been a revelation, ease of setup on my home office network, quick to print, vibrant colours and so far, jam free even using supermarket 'multi-purpose' paper..... The toner replacements are not cheap however (around £250 for HP ones and £150 for OEM ones) so factor this in if you're planning to use this as a work horse machine.

I have had the printer for approximately 2 and a half weeks now and the toner cartridges are ready to be replaced. It's slightly worrying as they have not lasted as long as I had expected. At £55 a toner cartridge that's a hefty print cost. Pages printed have been approx 600.

Great improvement over my previous 2550L, faster, quieter, sharper, but the toner cartridges are puny and don't hold enough for professional use. Just a warning, my old printer was ruined by my use of clone cartridges, so what I saved, was small compared with the final cost

I tried Samsung first but it was rubbish and then settled on another HP. Our HP mono laser printer gives excellent service on a daily basis and so I'm not surprised that the M251n is also great.
