1.0 out of 5 stars The Cartel
There was no real skeleton to this story, it meandered all over the place. It really consisted of "he said this" and "he did that" there was a lack of continuity. Some of the chapters were interesting but the story lacked depth and background on how things happened. No effort seemed to be made other than reporting what someone said. It was a disappointing read. The books...

I think that this was straightforward telling of something that started in Liverpool and spread throughout europe
It's a tale of the people who started dealing drugs and the people they became through their involvement in this
Awful trade Johnson obviously knows his stuff and tells the story as it is without resorting to any glamourising
All in all a story well told

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, 10 Mar 2013
This review is from: The Cartel: The Inside Story of Britain's Biggest Drugs Gang (Kindle Edition)
One of the top recent crime novels, the story is sharp, fluid and creates some great tense chapters that some other recent crime novels lack.
I Know some of the 'characters' in the book and some the anecdotes are great touch of humour in all the right places. Great read!

Really good read very interesting and well covered from what seems like all angles get a feel of tensions between police, youth and established criminals also looks at social impacts, how times have changed and what that evolution has brought with it.

Must read for any ture crime fan.

Can't fault it really. It's a real page turner, especially if you know the Liverpool area. Brilliant holiday reading.

Love him or loathe him Graham Johnson knows how to write books that keep you reading.

Sometimes short on detail. But compelling none the less. Worth the read. I have started on his other books. Well researched.
