5.0 out of 5 stars A must piece for every music fan!
I simply love it! Tharaud and his friends instantly bring the joy of music, and allure of Paris to your home.

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I'm not a musician so this review may be of limited value.

Having enjoyed the double album by Wiener & Doucet: Les Années Folles very much and seeking more of the same I bought this. Tharaud's playing is, as you'd expect, highly polished, but seemed (to my ears at least) dull by comparison.

3.0 out of 5 stars Trying too hard, 10 Aug 2014

I'm glad to have this in my collection, but it is not going to get played all that often. Evocative, well done; but not a true gold-plated winner. In a live performance I'm certain this would be sensational.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer delight, 3 Mar 2013

I would recommend this thrilling CD to anyone interested in the world of Paris in the 1920s, its songs, its writers, its artists and their historic meeting place, Le Boeuf sur le toit. Alexandre Tharaud's brilliant performances of the music played in that venue tkae your breath away. The CD is sheer delight all round.

Would have given five stars, but I was a touch disappointed that there wasn't more Darius Milhaud; I had convinced myself that the disc title had probably suggested more.
As for the disc - I had forgotten it was bought as second-hand. It was pristine, both disc and the cover package. Quite indistinguishable from new.
