5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny
This book is hilarious. It's the made up story of the Stig, where he comes from, what he gets up to and all of the bonkers theories about who he is. It has all of the Top Gear favourites, Clarkson, Hammond, May, as well as some brilliant 'interviews' with the stars of F1, movies and films.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not really that funny and a total spoof - a waste of £2.99
A BBC Mickey take of everything Stig. How the drivel has filled so many pages is the only marvel about this unholy heap of tripe. This book is only useful if bog paper is in short supply - true bum fodder!!

This is really laugh out loud funny and it's worth reading just for the script that the biographer uncovers for Stig: the movie (WHY wasn't this made!?).

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuinely funny book, 7 Nov 2012
This is the rather bizarre but very entertaining Stig back story, written by a made-up ‘biographer’. The biographer digs up all sorts of remarkably plausible links with famous names in Formula 1, showbiz and even the military. It’s full of surprises, and it did make me laugh. Real people make appearances throughout, and it’s worth reading for the hilarious Clarkson cameo alone. Also, you’ll see Bernie Ecclestone in a completely new light… If you enjoy the funny side of Top Gear, you’ll love this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gently humorous., 17 Aug 2014
If you're looking for a reasonably amusing diversion of a book peppered with nuggets of laugh out loud, disingenuous asides and tongue in cheek suppositions about the Stig then this is for you. If, however, you happen to be a humour vacuum who exercises by doing sit-ups under parked cars then avoid. This is not, and never was intended to be, a fact-based expose of the Stig's identity, background or motivations. If you are familiar with Top Gear will have understood this from the start. Anyone who thought this was a true to life biography about the programme's 'tame racing driver', please get in touch - I have some beach-front property on the dark side of the Moon you may be interested in. All-in-all, a fun read guaranteed to raise a smile if you 'get' the underlying ethos of Top Gear i.e. anarchic, informative and fun all at the same time. Also, advice to those who gave this 1 star, do NOT buy Private Eye magazine, it will only confuse you further.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a load of Rubbish, 23 July 2013
As per the others giving it one star - do not buy. It is a load of rubbish and is not funny at all. I didn't even bother to finish it and its off to the car boot now!

The Untold Story - more like the useless story!! author isn't even funny!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book, 13 Nov 2012
This is an excellent book! it is a made up story of Top Gear's legendary test driver. Getting into the mind set of the Stig had me in stiches. Well worth a read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny, but just a spoof book, 29 Oct 2012
The book made me chuckle. There are plenty of fake stories and pictures. This is a work of fiction and not a biography. It's just like a giant Clakson intro.....Some say he comes from........

I have not completed this book yet. It certainly not as I expected as it is a comical but not factual look at the subject matter.

I read it at short bursts as it gets a bit much in large doses.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dull, dull, dull..., 29 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Stig: The Untold Story (Kindle Edition)
There is a reason why this is "the untold story" - It's just a shame it didn't stay that way...
This is the kind of purile drivel that could have been written by a thirteen-year-old.
I was not expecting any sort of definitive history, but did think that it would at least be mildly ammusing. Sadly it was not. The author obviously ran out of any decent ideas after the first chapter but just carried on writing more and more stupid childish rubbish...
Avoid at all costs !
