4.0 out of 5 stars an enjoyable read
A fun "might have been". It does require quite a lot of suspension of belief to accept the rate of technological/industrial progress that Camelod makes and some of the dating within the book jumps around (bad editing) but otherwise it's very enjoyable. I just wish that the author had put out "Germania" (book 5) as it looks like he has stopped writing for...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so much Boudica as coronation street circa ad61
The book was quite well written, easy to read but unfortunately very long winded. I acquired the book to learn a bit more of one of our best known characters in ancient history. What I ended doing was skipping through reams of text about life in Roman Britain (Yawn.....) summed up Boudica got beaten up, her daughter's raped, raised an Army twelve time bigger than the...

Of all the what ifs in history surely the mist crucial has to be "what if Rome found a different way to develop and prosper".
In my opinion Laurie weaves a cracking tail of how things might have been if someone had linked the best of Cell and Roman and added Her on and his contemporaries science. Waiting for the next book but hoping it's not the last.

The book was quite well written, easy to read but unfortunately very long winded. I acquired the book to learn a bit more of one of our best known characters in ancient history. What I ended doing was skipping through reams of text about life in Roman Britain (Yawn.....) summed up Boudica got beaten up, her daughter's raped, raised an Army twelve time bigger than the Romans, kicked the crap out of three Roman towns before an open battle with a small Roman Army where her daughter's were killed and ????? There was no background to Boudica and little content. DISAPPOINTED!
