My daughter is 6 and my son is 9 and they LOVE these books. They read them alone, which is fantastic; These are the first 'thick' novels that my daughter is reading alone! They are hilarious stories about a boy called Tom and the adventures he gets up to in school and at home. Easy to read, but great to encourage independent reading. Highly recommended.

My son (who is a reluctant reader) absolutely loved these books and without prompting went to bed over Christmas to read them. This makes them a definite 5 star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even adults will enjoy reading these, 1 Mar. 2013
This review is from: Liz Pichon's Tom Gates 4 Books Collection Pack Set RRP: £27.96 The Brilliant World of Tom Gates, Excellent Excuses, Everything's Amazing (sort of) , Genius Ideas (Mostly) (Paperback)
If you kids are between 7 and 11 they would love reading these books, it's very representative of typical life in a primary school and children love the characters and the humor.
I read it with my kids and it was the highlight of the evening to read it, they are now confident readers and reading them again by themselves.
The books are excellent introduction to the wonderful world of books and imagination that is much more enjoyable than any film can ever be.
I can't say that about many other books that I had the privilege to read with them...

One of my pupils recommended these books. They are great fun and fantastic for reluctant readers, especially boys. Each page has a limited amount of text, and is liberally illustrated with cartoon type drawings. Anything which gets them reading and enjoying books must be good.
