Tip to maximise transfer speed
on 11 July 2014
Using Windows Vista, a 1.2GB .mkv file:
Upload Speed 7.75MB/sec average (a normal transfer rate for USB flash drives is about 12MB/sec)
Download Speed 21MB/sec average
Here's how to make it run at 20MB/sec upload:
Make sure you aren't transferring or using the usb stick. This method also means you have to manually use the "Safetly Remove Hardware" option by right clicking on the usb on the taskbar.
Start menu > Control Panel (make sure it's set to 'classic view'> Device Manager > Expand 'Disk drives' > Right click on the USB stick > select 'Properties' > Click 'Policies' tab > tick 'Optimize for Performance' rather than '..for quick removal". Click OK.
make sure to Safety Remove Hardware before you remove it.
It's the size of a thumbnail
You will upload 1 GB in approximately 2 minutes.
You will download 1 GB in approximately 1 minute 33 seconds.
You need a loop for the carry hole as too small to fit a key ring through.
Comes with a programme setup .exe file which you install to generate a password for security, if you want to use that.
