its ok , as with most middle parts of a triology it is a bridge between the two main chunks of the story , still all the same a very enjoyable film with great effects , and the dragon is magnificent , looking forward to the third part this year

Love this on the cinema and Im not the biggest JRR Tolkien fan. Fantastic script and acting. Think it was the best of the whole bunch. Nice action scenes too.

I found this second part really quite exciting. I was worried that such a short book put into 3 films would be dragging out the tale! Can't wait for part 3!

I had high hopes for this film after the first one, and thankfully it lived up to my expectations. The music was as good as the LOTR and the first hobbit, there were great moments of comedy that, when seen in the cinema, had everybody laughing. All of the actors were perfect for their roles in my opinion (especially Martin Freeman who does a great job of acting Bilbo). Smaug was very convincing and at no point in the film did I get bored, even though the length may put some people off.

Don't read the next bit if you don't want a slight SPOILER (sorry I have tried to reveal as little as possible), but Peter Jackson seems to have introduced a character who wasn't in any of the books, creating some sort of romantic sub-story towards the end. Disappointing from my point of view, but it may be to broaden the amount of people it appeals to. I didn't personally notice this, but one scene is in a river and the camera does go underwater. This appears to have been filmed with a lower quality camera than the rest, and it therefore appears grainy.

Overall I would recommend anyone watch this, some context is given at the beginning so watching the first film isn't essential (but I would highly recommend you do!). Cannot wait for the next film and glad it's coming sooner than this one did!

The extra footage really helps flesh out the story.

But I still don't approve of Mr Jacksons HUGE deviation from the original plot of the book ;-)

Loved the film, and cannot wait for the final installment. Acting was as usual great, scenery amazing, and the story well done if a little on the long side.

The quality of the video and the sound was absolute rubbish, I did not enjoy the movie at all as I could not even watch it properly. A total waste of money.
