So, I ordered this about three weeks ago now and am still waiting. Halloween is in less than a week and we were planning to celebrate a couple of days early anyway. This dvd is a big part of the Halloween experience for my kids, so if we don't get it will be ruined.

Every year my kids and I would grab a blanket, after trick and treating, and smoosh together with their candy and popcorn (in the dark) and watch The Halloween Tree on Sky channels, but a few years back they stopped broadcasting it. We miss it dearly and so can't wait to own the copy itself. Halloween hasn't been the same since.

Oh my Gosh! i have this VHS tape and my nephew and I watch it every halloween! Ray bradbury wrote a wondeful book, but the cartoon network made it into a classic animated movie that will remain one of my favorite memories of halloween!
The story in this movie is much more streamlined than the novel, and the story goes by in a far more fluid way. You find yourself actually wanting to see more of the history of halloween around the world. (Vampires... anyone??)
This movie tells the story of a group of children who go looking for there friend Pip on a halloween night. The only problem is that a soul grabbing man named mounshroud is also looking for the young boy.
In there search they find out the history of halloween around the world and try to figure out a way to get Pip back without him losing his soul! (It's not as childish as it sounds!)
I urge anyone (Any Age) who has not seen this to rent it, buy it, borrow it, download it! it will be a story you remember and cherish for many years to come.
And i really hope they put this on DVD soon! children and adults around the world are missing out on such a great movie!

I bought this film originally on video from a second hand shop when my son was little about 15 years ago. He loved it and it brings back happy memories for us. Fantastic to get hold of it again as unavailable in the UK.

Ray Bradbury's poetic and lyrical attempt to explain the concept of both Halloween and human mortality too - to a children's audience was a difficult trick (or treat) to pull off and I personally do not think that his highly praised book The Halloween Tree - for all it's strengths actually manages to achieve it. Similarly this animated version makes a brave - and impressive - stab at translating Bradbury's poetry into images and ironically produces a more involving "adventure" but one which ultimately doesn't fully work either. Still it's not half bad and it's great to have this rare film finally available on a high quality DVD.

I discovered this back in the early 90's at my local video shop. I rented it at least a dozen time until my parents bought me my own copy. Time has moved on and i no longer have a VHS player. There doesn't seem to be a UK region DVD for this so i had to order it from the states. It is still as good as i remember. It really taps into the feeling of Halloween when you are a child. Fans of the book by Ray Bradbury will be happy to know it remains mostly faithful as it was adapted and narrated by the man himself. Excellent voice work by Spock himself Leonard Nimoy. And for those who miss old fashioned animation this presents wonderfully quirky work by Hanna Barbara. A halloween film with a message as well as being educational.
