I have not read so much about the operation Market Garden a few books. I most say that this book is very well written. The writer have concentrated on what happend around the Osterbeek and Arnhem area, in other words the part that is the ( Garden ). He has interviewed many old veterans and Dutch residents of Arnhem and Osterbeek and got meny good storys of what happend in the area. The storys in the book is quite moving but there are some storys that are quite hilarious and you will get a good laugh. Apart from the occasional humorous elements in the book, the book is very enthralling and moving. I can highly recommend it.

This is by far the most in depth and interesting study I have read on the Arnhem battle. I would highly recommend it to any other reader. The detail of the debacle of the operation is excellent .Middlebrook is without doubt a master in this field

Mr.Middlebrooks book is an excellent read and draws on many personal accounts of the men who fought at Arnhem, and also the Dutch Civilians caught up in the savage fighting.I particularly rate this Book as its accounts are those of the actual men who fought in the battle and not quotes and platitudes from Brass Hats that were not any where near the sharp end of the Battle and could not possibly understand the sufferings of Friend and Foe alike. This Book is very well researched, and i would recommended it to Historians and the layman alike.Like him or loathe him Martin Middlebrook has again produced a very worthy Book.

Very comprehensive account of the battle that is presented in a clear and detached fashion.

A well documented book and certainly a reference work, my only concern is that it is actually so detailed that the reader that is looking for a general vision of the battle and the surrounding events might get a bit lost in the minutiae of the different units that took part in the battle and their actions. But if this is precisely what you are looking for, look no further.

Again, another book, for the father in law, - he says plenty of detail, picture, references, to enable you to follow what happened. He plans to have completed reading this, prior to visiting Arnhem later in the year.
