5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
This was a wonderful book, with strong, believable characters. I loved the Irish proverbs at the start of each chapter.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, old fashioned romance with a bit of politics
This book is set in Ireland and the main male character has had dealings with the IRA. The female lead has led a sheltered life after a dramatic incident in her late teens - the book deals with their relationship, how they meet, their courtship and the path of their romance. There's family drama thrown in and life in a small gossipy Irish village to upset their path to...

A great story, strong characters, lovely setting, skillfully drawn narrative! Un put downable. The characters developed gradually, and seemed very human and believable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Last Bride In Ballymuir, 8 Sep 2013

After reading thrillers and fantasy type books, I was a little sceptical about reading The Last Bride In Ballymuir. I thought it would be a dull romance book. I can honestly say I could not put this book down, I even had the whole Irish accent going through my mind as I read. Brilliantly written. Thank you to the author, this was a thoroughly good read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very good, 17 April 2013
This review is from: The Last Bride in Ballymuir (Ballymuir Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
When I first started reading this book I thought it was set in the 1930's because it was so old fashioned.Ireland in the troubles is more modern than this book describes. Also in Ireland we do not talk about sidewalks we have pavements. The police are called Garda not Gardai .The word for cheers is slainte not slan

3.0 out of 5 stars Last Bride, 11 Feb 2013

It was an okay piece of fiction I suppose although the main characters were a bit thinly written. Definitely "victim" written all over them".

The whole piece also lacked pace in places.

I can't say that I would actively seek out anything else by this author. All things considered a 3 star rating.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant enough, 29 Nov 2012
By
This review is from: The Last Bride in Ballymuir (Ballymuir Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
The book is a pleasant enough read, with an interesting plot and some enjoyable characters. However, despite the author clearly taking her time to attempt to write diaogue that had Irish phrases and rhythm, it was a shame she still used Americanisms. I found the references to trash, closets, walk (pavements) etc. jarring.
