It certainly is a great product. I would have give 5 stars. Droping it down to 3 stars for only one reason. It has a small nut and bolt that lets you adjust the vertical angle which is great. However, the bolt screwes into the nut with couple of turns, hence it can also undo very quickly. Then if it gets undone, there is a small slot from which the nut can fall off and if you are in a field (like I was), the nut will be lost and you are stuck. If you buy this, I recommend that the first thing you do is put a tape or blue-tac over that small slot to cover the nut. Not sure why the slot is there in the first place.

This is an excellent clamp. I've used this for both taking pictures and recording video with the resulting image and footage being very stable and great looking.

The grip holds your phone tightly (although not enough to damage your phone) and I have no worries about my phone falling off or slipping.

There is a plastic nut below the clamp that when loosened, allows you to move your phone exactly how you want it. Once the nut is tightened, your phone is held in place. Very simple!

I recommend getting yourself a small GorillaPod tripod too. The two work very well together and are portable enough to take with you on trips.

I use this clamp with an iPhone 5S in the official leather case. The grip opens up very wide and by the looks of it, it could *probably* hold the gigantic iPhone 6 Plus in it too.

If you're into your mobile photography/filmmaking, it's definitely worth getting.

Lovely bit of kit! I was originally looking for a tripod for my iPhone- but this adaptor is even better, as it works with the tripod I've already got for my 'real' camera (which, by shear coincidence, seems to be the same as the one in the picture). Highly recommended."

I have been using this to hold my Galaxy S3 still while I record myself playing on a Banjo. Using this device has enabled me to record video without having to spend out on a lot of other kit.

The sprung loaded jaws open to a maximum width of 9.5CM. Their padded surfaces would allow a big range of phones to be held securely. A pivot point behind the jaws allows quite a range of movement, twists and turns that is, the pivot point is easily locked into place with the attached screw tightening fitting. The gadget is for mounting on a normal photographic type of tripod screw fitting, is does not stand on it's own. I have even been using the device just to hold my phone in a good position if the reception in our house gets bad, which it often does.

Overall, this is a really flexible little gadget, I would definitely recommend.

I really like this, as it's not another one of those things that is going to go out of date in a year or few because your phone has changed and it is no longer compatible - so that's a big bonus for me!

I find it a little stiff and it takes a tiny bit of patience to line everything up. I often find myself not using the stick to move it around as it doesn't work great for me, but perhaps I just haven't been patient enough. But that's fine, it's really easy to move your phone around without that and set it up straight.

I bought it with the suggested tripod which I also really recommend, and it fits perfectly; I had it fixed in 2 seconds after taking it out of the bag.

holds my Galaxy S3 nicely on top of a tripod that I got from Currys. Would hold all iPhone versions and other similar size smartphones. Not for Galaxy Note II - too small for those phones. Was £11.99 when I got it - cheaper now! :) thanks!

For £10 I didn't expect any more or less than what I got - a tripod adaptor that fits my phone. As other reviewers have found it doesn't include the tripod or the tripod head, but what do you expect for just £10? Most people spend at least this much on a case for their smartphones.

Note that the female screwthread on the adaptor is 1/4 inch (i.e. the same as the one you get on a SLR camera), so you need a tripod which includes a tripod head to fit this onto. The adaptor features a spring-loaded clamping mechanism so will fit various sized phones. It includes a small ball-mount assembly (with a button at the back to release and lock it) so you can position the phone as needed.

Overall very pleased with this - I had something similar for my old (now redundant) iPhone 3GS, but that adaptor was designed specifically for the size of the phone so is now useless to me having switched to a Galaxy S2. I wish I'd bought this instead as it adapts to different phone sizes - in fact if I remember correctly the iPhone 3GS compatible one was closer to £20 (and still didn't include a tripod!).

When the item arrived I thought they had sent me the wrong item.
I thought it would never fit my Galaxy S3 in a million years. I almost sent it back without opening it.
But decided to give it a go and compared it to the pictures. I am still not convinced its the same item BUT it does work.
It is like a crocodile clip but the jaws open ultra wide and they grip my phone, in its case very well. The jaws actually open surprisingly wide and with rubber ends on them they seem gentle enough too.
The other end fits to my tripod just like it should, very firmly. It is adjustable too with a single ball joint that you can tighten once you have the right position. This is in addition to the adjustments your own tripod can do I guess also.
All in all was it worth £10? I think I could have made one for less using a bolt from a DIY store and a phone holder off eBay. But is it worth the hassle? I have used it already and it seems absolutely fine and I am sure I will get lots of use out of it. It does seem to be well made so I am hoping it will not break.

The only way I could scrobe this to a friend was to say it's pretty much like your hand holding your phone whilst videoing except it is made of quality plastic and mounts on a tripod. Dead easy to usee and set up - screw it to your tripod (yes it needs your own tripod or one of those octopussy things - I have both) adjust the positioning via a ball joint on the side - open the hand/jaws put the phone in sideway or upright - click on for a selfy or scene.

Great for my app - filming my golf swing. Get the tripod in the right place with this clamp on it - use the self video setting so you can see what you are videoing of yourself - click on - do your stuff - click off - open jaws, take phone out and look at the results. This very easy way to mount the phone and then take it out again is the killer app for this type of product - the last thing I need is a difficult, finicketty way to get the phone out so I can view the video.

I would imagine that wind would effect its stability and make it judder a little - afterall it is made of sturdy plastic not a steel casting (but a steel one would have cost you £50 I'd guess) but I've had no problem yet - but who want to practice and video in 25mph winds anyway!

Summary - very good to use, simple to mount on the tripod and mount the phone. Easy to take the phone out and remount - this is the tripod phone mount you need if you are going to be putting the phone on and off the tripod - like I do for golf swing videos.

I wanted something that I could use to make time lapse videos with my camera (use the lapse it app) but needed to be ableto hold the camera steady. The Galaxy Nexus is quite a big phone so I was worried about getting a holder that would cope with it. This was one of the few that gave any indication of how big it would get. It easily copes with my Nexus phone and is very small and light so fits in my camera bag with other camera equipment. It holds the phone firmly and my mini tripod is not overbalanced by it. The only down side is that because of the style of this holder you can't get to the screen easily once the camera is mounted. You can get to it but it's a bit fiddly so it' easier to get everythig setup before you want to start filming. The other mounts see to deal with this but they are too small for these larger modern handsets. The holder is well made and sturdy and I feel very confident that my phone is safe in it's grip.
