Melody Prochet is onto something here. She has clearly learned lessons
from the sixties, digested and synthesized them and come back with a
sound which manages to be both charmingly anachronistic and bang on
trend in the same breath. Her debut album veers close to the "chillwave"
phenomenon at times but manages to avoid many of the pitfalls of that
oversubscribed genre by virtue of her innate sense of melody and her
collaborators' ability to create a more richly varied sound palette than
a great many of her Trans-Atlantic cousins. It is a very French affair!
Ms Prochet's voice has been compared in some other realms (and I would agree)
with that of Francois Hardy. Her fragile, breathy delivery and hollow tone, though
limited in range, serves her well. Whilst not being the most powerful instrument
in the musical firmament it is, nevertheless, a curiously sweet and beguiling one.
She sounds most at home when singing in her own language. The languorous and
honeyed performance of 'Bisou Magique' and strangely captivating jazzy
swing of 'Quand Vas Tu Rentrer?' are especial highlights but elsewhere the
quasi-psychedelic swirl and swagger of 'You Won't Be Missing That Part Of Me'
and nightmare-in-a-fairground instrumental 'Isthatwhatyousaid' display an 'edgier'
side to her sonic imagination. The beautiful opening track 'I Follow You', however,
is pick of the crop by a country mile. The kind of perfectly conceived composition
which you want to flip right back to the beginning again the moment it's over!
All-in-all it's a right royal grower!

I like it. This will not become a regular on my play list, but I do enjoy it.
You have to listen to this a couple of times, comes across very lovingly, then you notice the dark syth with very good backing band.
Hmm, nice. Not Brilliant, just very good.
