A bit flawed, only for the technically adept
on 9 March 2014
Don't buy this if you want something you can leave with an elderly or technophobic friend or relative and be able to skype them or have them skype you.
You really need someone technical available to be able to deal with the frequent resets and setting up.
In theory this is a useful product.
But it frequently forgets the skype password (apparently when the tv it's connected to is reset or switched off).
As there's no keypad it has to be re entered by selecting each letter individually onscreen via the remote. This is way too fiddly for anyone but the most dexterous, and by the way requires good eyesight.
So if, as we did, you expect to leave it set up with a friend or relative who's not technically adept, you're in for a series of frustrating phone calls to talk them through trying to set it up again, and then eventually, most likely, giving up.
Incidentally the reset issue has been highlighted for a long time on the Logitech forums and they haven't done anything about it. It seems to be by design.
Even for the technically literate, repeatedly entering any reasonably secure password in that way is tedious in the extreme!
Since anyone who can is more likely to use a tablet, mobile or PC, this is not really fit for purpose :-(
