The 7Ts label thru Cherry Red Records are doing a sterling job of reissuing gems from the 70.s
We have had Donny and The Osmonds now its time for David Cassidy.I allways thought David a n excellent singer but because of his teen idol fame it was uncool to like his records, well I did like them, used to buy them but they were hidden away out of sight. Now at long last his original albums get rereleased.Dreams was the final album on Bell records and is similar to his others, some pleasant songs sung very well, the big hit "Daydreamer"and "The puppy song" are here, this album is a very welcome release as it was only available on cd via an expensive japanese import. The harder they climb is a much more mature album, originally on the RCA label and intended to take David away from the teen market and appeal to a wider audience. The album was based on the fall of a rock star and included some exellent tracks including his version of the beach boys "Darlin" and included some top knotch players. His best album by far.
These reissues are all done with care and attention, original pic sleeves etc, well done to all involved.

This the second David Cassidy 7TS Release is very welcome! First the two albums show that David was no manufactured talent, but multitalented before the Partridge Days, this shows in his creative input on thease two albums,DREAMS...,for me IS DAVID CASSIDY!This is the album that made me a fan.A note on a previous review, hence my title GETTIN YOUR FACTS RIGHT! THIS 7TS release IS THE CORRECT VERSION of THE HIGHER THEY CLIMB,WITH THE CORRECT VERSION of DARLIN!!!! IT IS THE SAME AS ORIGINAL LP AND THE SAME AS JAP-CD 2009 VERSION,THE VERSION RELEASED OF DARLIN IN THE UK HAD A REMIX ON VOCALS GIVING A SOFTER VOCAL STYLE ON THE 7INCH SINGLE ONLY.THIS VERSION IS STILL AVAILABLE ON THE RAZOR&TIE COMPILATION OF DAVIDS RCA YEARS - WHEN IM A ROCK AND ROLL STAR. THE 7TS Release has excellent notes a picture disc and very good sound better than the american recent reissue of davids last RCA album GETTIN IT IN THE STREETS. But the GOOD NEWS IS, 7TS ARE ABOUT TO RELEASE THIS WITH MY FAVE- HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, I FOR ONE CARNT WAIT!!! PAUL,DERBYSHIRE

A welcomed release , especially The Higer they Climb on CD after many years . Previously This CD sells for big bucks ( check Amazon and ebay ), now your for only £7.49
The session musicians include some of Elvis' live band including James Burton and Ronnie Tutt.
You get the pre-Barry Manalow vesion of I write the songs ( backing vocals including the Carl Wilson and Bruce Johnson)
The best version of this Song.

The beach boys Darlin is the Album version, this was remixed for the single version ( which is far superior). So dont complain.
Maybe a future release can include the Remixed tracks, B-sides, extended versions.

KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK 7Ts records and Cherry Red

The Higher They Climb is good and I especially like the Da Iddy part. But my unbounded joy at this release is for Dreams Are Nuthin' More Than Wishes. For me this is one of the very best albums ever made. I missed it when it was first released because only girls listened to David Cassidy. But by 1977 when I was 15 my taste in music was growing rapidly and someone played this for me promising me I would like it. How wrong can someone be, I didn't like it I LOVED IT! It was without doubt the best album I had heard at that time in my life. Every track is magical, special and just perfect. Can't Go Home Again tops them all. It's stands head and shoulders above the rest and they are all fantastic.

Thirty five years after I first heard it this album still blows me away and I'm delighted to see it available again.

I had this in album form many years ago and delighted with the cd. Shows david cassidy is a brilliant singer and should be known not just for the partridge family songs even though I had them all but this cd shows him in a different way especially the songs on the cd that he wrote himself. Really enjoy listening to it.l

Quite often teen stars produce their best work when their popularity starts to decline. David Cassidy was no exception. "The Higher They Climb" is without a doubt his best album..."Dreams..." is also a top quality album and it's a shame his work is often over looked!

I have both these and treasure them. Dreams are nothing more than wishes is magical & The higher they climb is just fab. Each one portrays a more grown up David sound & yet still maintains his unmistakable soul. Love them & David dearly.
