Great album, quite different to Martha Wainghright's other music, I really love her vocals and lyrics so a great album.

I have several disc's by Martha and like them all, her voice is silky smooth and full of deep meaning. The only issue I have with this is the nasty cheap cardboard case, and what's more you cannot even read the writing on either the front of back, no idea what the tracks are until they start, surely they can produce a better case even in card if needed, that you can read. Bet Rufus wouldn't like his sisters disc in a rubbish package!!

Her best. Moving, gripping: buy this if you like music that touches and enfolds you. Oh my, oh my, oh my.

This album follows the trend she has set with her last three: they all have their own individual 'sound'. This one can tug at the heartstrings and make you dance at the same time, something I've rarely experienced. If you liked Martha's earlier work, or if you just want to experience something different, you should definitely not miss out on this album. A true masterpiece.

From my first few listens, this album is great. Some tracks are quite different to others (as any Martha fan knows, she sings of a scorned woman in many tracks and that's why we love her)! Looking forward to hearing her do this live at Shepherd's Bush in December.

If you have her other albums but haven't got this yet, order it now. You won't be disappointed.

Martha wainwright is an acquired taste. For a long time she just sang about the chip on her shoulder. Now she has some things to be happy about too. Still a bit samey so I don't reach for the repeat button when listening to the album.
You may prefer and especially if you are a fan get the new family tribute album to her mother the great Kate McGarrigle.

Couldn't wait to get this cd into my player and was very disappointed on first hearing. Nothing seemed to be melodic at all. As I've played it more and more it is definitely improving. I'm beginning to notice wonderful nuances and sections of phrasing that are lovely and just what Martha is famous for. Looking forward to seeing her live next week.

Less of an instant hit than the other albums...but by by God this is a grower.

Proserpina was an instant favourite but the rest of the album also becomes quickly sublime after a few listens.

Anyone who has never heard this woman's voice is missing out on one of the greatest female solo singers of all time.

The case was in bad condition with scratches etc.
I bought this as a Christmas present and would have like it to look nice.
But all in all it arrived well within time and played well, so all was good.

Saw Martha play in Leongatha, which is a small town in rural Victoria, Australia. She was great. Venue was great so ordered the CD. it arrived within a could of days. Couldn't complain
