Okay, so I've read Locke and Key parts 3 and 4 back to back tonight and I'm forcing myself not to read 5 until at least tomorrow just so I can look forward to it because nothing else is as good.

As I said in my review of part 3, Locke and Key is the hardest thing ever to review as you just don't want to give any spoilers. All I'll say it's the story never slows up it's pace, the artwork is outstanding as usual, there is some great ideas in it, we get to see more new keys and the end of this one took an interesting twist I thought.

I know there is no way that you're reading this not having read the first three so this review is for the fans. If however you are reading this by chance and haven't read the last three then I strongly advise you to start at the beginning. It's not the kind of thing you can pick up half way through. You'll just have missed too much.

As amazing as ever. I'm kind of sad that I'll read part 5 tomorrow as part 6 isn't out yet. An easy 5 stars.

As a child, I used to read lots of comics. Now in my 30s, I'm rediscovering them, and Locke & Key is amazing! I love Stephen King, and Locke & Key is partly made by his son. I have recently bought the last one, but I haven't read it yet, as I'm afraid I won't be able to put it down until I finish it, and it'll be gone too quickly!

The saga continues, building on the madness and pace of the first three volumes and delivering more surprises on the way. Good and evil seem to go all out in this volume with tensions mounting and suspicion closing in around Dodge, be prepared for a cliff hanger that will have you buying volume 5 faster than you can blink.

I bought this with others in the series as a present and they were read in no time at all.

Not a graphic novel fan myself but found the artwork to be brilliant and the storylines engaging, I may just be converted to this type of literature.

the story of Locke and Key continues in this book. if you've not ready any the books you should as the story by Joe Hill and art by Gabrielle Rodriguez is truly excellent. you won't regret it.

This series is great - imaginative, well-paced, superb art.

The only annoying thing is the concluding TP doesn't come out for another three months. This is killing me.

... the story behind the Locke and Key series remains as strong as ever.

We continue to see the Locke children pursuing the Dark Lady, both utilising and avoiding the dangers of the myriad of keys at the Keyhouse.

If you are already familiar with Hill's writing and Rodriguez' artwork, and by book 4 of the series, you really should be, then I don't need to remind you that you are buying a quality product.

But...

Book 4 stands apart from its predecessors in some negative ways. There are parts of the story that just skip over what could be details rich in story and danger. The danger is portrayed well enough through the artwork, but it's as if Hill couldn't fit what was in Rodriguez' head in to the story proper, and so what you get is a stuttering montage of fantasy tableau.

There is also no introduction to book 4, and there is no ribbon. Call me a pedant, but hardcover editions of any kind are meant to have ribbons. The only "extra" you're getting with this is an (apparently pretty rare) hardback (as it took 5 weeks to arrive) and the fact that it will last more than 5 reads off your shelf.

So whilst Book 4 is still an excellent overall story, compared to previous efforts it just doesn't quite make the grade. If 3 1/2 existed, this would get it.
