Item doen't completely match picture
on 25 September 2013
Ok, I don't want to seem niggly here but the picture quite clearly shows the pestle with a grinding surface that goes half way up so that you can use it against the sides of the bowl, but this isn't what I got as only the end of the pestle has a grinding edge which make it harder to use. As you grind the herbs and spices tend to move to the side of the bowl and a pestle with a grinding surface up its sides allows you to grind against the side of the bowl but you can't do that with this one, and I do expect the actual product to match the picture. Also the outside of the mortar wasn't as highly glossy as shown on the picture and I can quite clearly see horizontal lines from the turning process to shape it, if I had been buying this as a present I wouldn't have wanted to pass it on. Lastly, other reviews said that you could get into the corners of the mortar with the pestle but I find it doesn't seem to be a good fit. Given the price I paid I've kept it and made do and for that price I daresay the quality is acceptable, but if I had paid the original £24.99 it would have been returned as sub standard immediately.
