A construction crew opens a vault/tomb that was sealed during the Great Plague of London. This unleashes a zombie outbreak. The film concentrates on the old folks home and the young adults who rob a bank to get the money to save the home. Brothers Terry (Rasmus Hardiker) and Andy (Harry Treadaway) head up the group. They are aided by their cousin Katy (Michelle Ryan), bumbling ex-con David (Jack Doolan), and Mental Mickey (Ashley Thomas). Georgia King plays a hostage the guys try to pick up after they kidnap her.

The film is a comedy and not a horror production as expected. It is not knee-slapping funny, but did make me laugh at some unique scenes such as drop kicking a zombie baby, attempting to kill a zombie with a metal plate in his head, a zombie gang fight, and of course the chase scene of a foot dragging zombie pursuing a man with a walker. Zombie fans just have to love it.

Parental Guide: Plenty of F-bombs, no sex or nudity.

A group of criminals decide to rob a bank so they can save their grandfather's retirement home from being demolished by developers.

On a building site some workers dig up an old graveyard and they get bitten by a Zombie which sets off a chain reaction.

Then the bank robbers are cornered by the police while in the process of the robbery, but when they exit they find that they are all dead as a result of the horde of zombies.

They have to get to the retirement home before the zombies do, and save their Grandad.....

As soon as you get into this film, you cannot help but compare it to Shaun of the dead, as it's a British comedy about Zombies, so the bar will always be raised.

But the thing is, it's not trying to be anything other than trashy fun, and it works much better than you would expect.

This is thanks to the performances from the cast and the way the two sub-plots moulds into one come the end of the film. Ford steals the whole film, and he's doing his Brick Top shtick he did in Snatch, but with a little less intensity.

It is more funny when we focus on the retirement home, as the characters are rich and surprisingly have a lot of depth, and it has the best scene in the whole movie, when Ford and Co are trying to wake up Briers and then it features the slowest zombie on foot chase ever committed and its hilarious.

So all in all, it's no classic, but it's a lot of fun, and it will get repeat viewings from myself.

Don't let the title put you off, it's a lot of fun...

Cockneys vs zombies.
The story of a group of cockney bank robbers fighting their way out of a zombie infested London, slightly obvious from the title...

First Impressions:
Within the first few minutes of the film, my eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing.
Thankfully the part I am referring to is the only extremely gory scene. Phew.

Positives:
A great cast including;
Honor Blackman,
Richard Briars and
Alan Ford.

Thoroughly enjoyable.
Lots of action, lots of guns and LOTS of swearing.

If you like Shaun of the dead, then, in my opinion, you will LOVE this!!

Moments that will make you laugh. All of them unexpected.
Many one liners of enjoyable English comedy.
The soundtrack is brilliant!

Negatives:
In my opinion it could have been longer as it is only an hour and twenty eight minutes long.

Conclusion:
Well worth the time and money spent,
A great British film, full of fun and legendary actors!

Highly recommended!

This film is probably one of the funnier horror comedies I have seen in a long while (since SOTD) and is classic in every way.
The disc was mint, and is worth picking up for anyone who loves the idea of OAP's kicking off against the undead!

I felt this movie was so bad, it was actually good. There were many genuinely laugh out loud scenes throughout the movie that made this an enjoyable experience. Obviously this is a low budget movie and managed to mix in the traditional british gangster movie genre with zombies and comedy very well. Don't expect a classic but it's genuinely entertaining. My biggest criticism with modern movies like this is the over use of CGI blood and gore. While some of it is just so ridiculous you laugh out loud, it lacks that visceral edge that makes it a horror movie. Perhaps while unrealistic, I much prefer practical effects where the actors interact with the effects and sometimes get splashback on their face and clothes, that you just don't get with CGI . In any case, it's well worth watching this movie, maybe not worth buying but definitely a good rental.

Really good movie, so what is obviously a deliberately naff title might lead people to think it actually is rubbish which would be a shame. Lots of well known faces in small roles, Dan Miller from The Thick Of It as the dim bank manager is good, you've also got Richard Briers, Honour Blackman and Tony Selby as inmates of a retirement home facing closure. Dudley Sutton from Lovejoy is another inmate and really strange grasp of cockney rhyming.

The drop dead gorgeous Michelle Ryan reminds everyone she's got cleavage taking the lead with Rasmus Hardiker from Lead Balloon. Ryan and Hardiker decide to rob Dan Miler's bank to save the retirement home run by Alan Ford and somehow, don't ask, said home is overrun by zombies. Good acting from the entire cast, good special effects and great lines.

I was lucky enough to see this film during it's very limited cinema release. There are some great moments in the film and I'm sure you'll be laughing out a fair few times.
You do need to simply "suspend your brain" while the film is on. There is no deep meaning, no hidden messages. It's silly and that's exactly what they were aiming for.
It hasn't got the brilliance of either Shaun of the Dead or Lock, Stock however as a mash-up it works and you will find it fun.
As for the 2-star review further down. Your decision if to take it seriously or not, the middle section where it looks like a 10 year old has decided to write a fart joke followed by an "only joking" makes me want to ignore that one.

It wasn't such a bad film. Plenty of brit humour and lots of action. Some well know actors from the uk. Also shot like Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. Lots of swearing. See Juan Of The Dead and La Horde.
