It would be hard to find a better showcase for this little known composer. The most popular piece- the Five Songs for a Negro Child - is enchantingly sung with the most deft of orchestral accompaniment from the BBC Philharmonic under Mena. The orchestral items, mostly new to me, are given very vibrant performances with the 'Sinfonia da Requiem' being a particular highlight. The is a 'must buy' for anyone interested in mainstream 20th century music. Very highly recommended.
