The book itself is almost indispensable for a Latinist, either as a learner or an academic. However, this edition, as advertised here on Amazon, is made with "print on demand" technology. The scanning process is so bare-bones that none of the formatting required to make sense of a reference book such as this remains in place - the book is rendered as a block of text with no markers to help you find what you're looking for. The best advice I can give is to ignore this listing and go for a different edition.

NB: The inside of this book as I received it looked nothing like the "look inside" preview of this item.

Millions od lines running into one another, syntax completely unreadable and lots of spelling mistakes - stick to Kennedy's primer with red cover that is excellent.

Admirably clear and it would be a pity to modernise (dumb down?) the English. However, as it is essentially a reference book, it does need to be used in conjunction with a conventional textbook with excercises, when used by a beginner.

The Revised Latin Primer (Classic Reprint)
This edition of The Revised Latin Primer is a disgrace. It appears to have been produced on a poor quality home printer with an inadequate ink supply and a faulty paper feed. Type was misaligned, words were missing in whole or in part, some pages were defaced with ink blotches. It is quite useless for either learning or teaching. I have taught latin for over 50 years, and have never seen anything worse. The only good news about it is the speed and efficiency with which my money was repaid when I returned it. If you need this book, buy the Longman edition. It costs more, but the quality is excellent.
