What a great album, from a guy with probably the best voice i've heard in years, take Ray La Montagne and double that deep gutteral roll and throw in some great blues and rock tracks with a toe tapping beat and you have The Shovel vs The Howling Bones. Outstanding rocking album with some amazing blues riff and some quality song writing as well, i bought this on whim and i am so glad i did. Checked out the guys website, he's opening Ice Cream Socials in Texas, but i think in a year he'll be huge.

I got this on the 2 for a tenner, best £5 i ever spent.

This really reminds me of Chris Whitley's first album, Living with the Law, and that's no bad thing. It's got that same spooky, ethereal sound, interspersed with really good slide guitar. I'd have liked it in cd form but then I'm a stickler for sleeve notes. Would I recommend it? Without a shadow of a doubt - well worth buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars solid, 21 April 2012
Bought this after hearing a snippit on radio 2, album is well recorded and has an excellent warmth to it. A bit expensive as its an import but I was eager to find out if the rest of Lincoln's material stood up to the test and it does. Looking forward to hearing more from him in the future, hopefully with a bit more 'big band' sound incorporated.

This really is an excellent album from a most unusual talent from Texas. He doesn't need anyone to bang his drum - he's already a one-man-band!
