Fantastic movie if you liked the previous installments,

This review is from: Resident Evil: Retribution [Blu-ray] [2012][Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I really enjoyed this installmentKick ass action from the start and the plot and further evil umbrella gets up to is great. I knocked one star off because some of the acting in this is sub par and the first 10-15 mins is a little cringe worthy. However, once your sucked in the fights scenes are great and the Alice vs Jill scene is very good from a choreography and MA background plenty of elbows and kicks, not too much fancy moves. Hoping for the sequel ! and the final installment.

make no mistake about it this is the best in the series so far.from the opening credits to the final haunting scene this is slam bang action all the way.we learn far more about alice and her origins plus more about the umbrella corps and how the world got into such a mess.a killer soundtrack, action all the way and you have a film to savour well set up for the final instalment in two or three years time.five stars-really deserves more.

This review is from: Resident Evil: Retribution [DVD] [2012] (DVD)
You'd be forgiven for thinking they should stop making these films, but they really have pulled out all the stops for this one, really impressive action and effects! Starting off where the last one ended, this soon gets into the action and explains the story so far. The story does get a bit complex at times, but Milla is on top form again as the ass kicking, superhuman Alice. The creatures look bigger, badder and better, the effects are clealry done by a team that cares about this film, the action scense are mostly superb and it doesn't drag. It's good to see the back story and great to see Michelle Rodriguez,we also see Alice as a housewife...sort of. This is where some things get confusing, clones are very much a part of this movie and often leaves you working out who's good and bad and what is this person doing there, you'll see what i mean when you watch it. If you enjoyed the others,go for it and though it looks incredible,i can't say yet if it's as good as the others, but it left an impression. Yep,i think a lot of fans are going to be blown away by this one!

5 films in and still amazing,
This review is from: Resident Evil: Retribution [DVD] [2012] (DVD)
The film begins from where the fourth film ended. Alice and the gang are on a boat fighting it out but people get captured and things get a bit messy. The opening to the film was spectacular and really eye catching. This part of the film is shown in reverse, in slow motion, which was really interesting. I don't watch many 3D films but this was one I was willing to pay the extra for, which is proven right at the beginning of the film. The 3D here was fantastic. Then, the scenes are sped up and put back into the right order, letting the audience know what is going on.I completely love Milla Jovovich who has played Alice from the first film. She is a strong and interesting character who seems to be able to develop and adapt to each new situation she is put in. In this film, she is leather clad throughout which makes her look even more kick ass than she has done in the previous films. However, in this film we get to see a softer side to Alice due to certain things that happen. I thought that this was going to be one film just full of action and killing but there is more to it than that. Jovovich always gives an amazing performance and this film is no exception to the rule. After seeing the trailer for this film, I was aware that characters from past films were being brought back in... even if they had previously died. This was the one part of the film I was desperate to find out about as I knew there was no way that they could just bring people back to live. The way that these characters are brought back is very interesting and not quite what I was expecting. Umbrella is a huge company and can pretty much do what they like... and they have. I loved having Rain back who is played by Michelle Rodriguez. Although I don't always like her as an actress, I do like her in these films and she is fantastic in this one. There are twists with the old characters but really good twists. The action is exactly what you would expect from a RE film. There are plenty of big fight scenes which are both elaborate and simple at different times. There are normal zombies, evolved zombies and some big ass scary things. There are humans fighting each other and humans fighting the zombies. Really, this film covers everything in regards to action. There are car chases, explosions and lots of running from things. The action and fight scenes are the things that I love the most about RE films as they are always so exciting. Retribution doesn't let down the franchise at all when it comes to this. The plot was a little simple for my liking, as the film is set in one place the whole time. However, the film does set things up nicely for the next film which will probably be the last with Alice as the main character or the last film completely. I think that the plot was left somewhere really good which gives a lot of room for things to happen in the next film. There is no certainty of what could happen though which I like as it means the next film will be a complete surprise again.

I know this may be saying more to some than to others but this fifth outing is the best by far! It just made me fall in love with the franchise even more. I think we all know that the hate for these movie matches/exceeds the love for them. I'm a long-time fan of these films but even I felt that this iteration was a breath of fresh air and takes the franchise into places the audience has never been before. Paul W.S Anderson may not be the best writer in the world, but when watching Retribution I really felt it was clear that he had thought this chapter through and knew where he wanted to go with it. With breathtaking action sequences, further character development on the central character, good acting (mostly, some a little wooden), clever in places, great 3D and the best story line to date, this is definitely one to watch. Number six here we come!If I could give it more stars I would. UPDATE: £6.00! What a bargain! Especially considering these DVD's are usually at least £10 when first released. Thanks Amazon :)

The weakest of the resident evil movies,

Basically I watched all the other movies before I saw this one so I could remind myself of everything that happened... this film lacks the originality of the previous films and in many sections of the film does not make sense and doesn't run true to the previous films. I felt this film was more like a video game in the most part. Naturally there were some fairly good parts to the movie but I just wish they had stayed true to the previous movies rather than the video games! That's why I liked the other movies! It's worth a watch but I don't think I could watch it more than a handful of times as it's very disappointing in comparison to what I was expecting.

Yet again another awesome sequel in the brilliant resident evil series, this is a must for fans as these movies are mainly aimed at their major fan base now, the story continues really well with lots more cool twists and turns and the return of very many familiar faces from the past, the effects are top notch as usual and the movie soundtrack is awesome too, Milla jovovich is amazing to watch and her character Alice always gets better, the ending to this one is even more mind blowing than the last so roll on part 6. The 3D is top notch and works well too. Check it out.

One thing i will start with is WOW this film is by far the best in the series i watched it at the cinema in 3D and the experience was FANTASTIC,we went and saw it the day it came out in cinema and i was surprised to only see only 10 viewers then again it was on a friday and at 2pm in the afternoon lol.(Little detail to avoid spoiling) Storyline. The story was fantastic from start to finish and the twist of it was a shock and the special effects were awesome. Characters. The actors and there roles were played very well it good to have all the characters in it that what made it better than before, but one little suprise is that the redfields wernt in it but that doesnt make it all doom and gloom hope to see them again. IMAX 3D. This was amazing (never seen a 3D film) and felt so real like your in the film, one seen what made me actually move is with a ice pick when alice chucks it and it come towards your face like it going to hit you awesome, much better than viewing in normal type if you get a chance view in the cinema in 3D much better. Waiting Game. You guessed it after seeing all that action and suspense there is going to be another one and by the looks of it you will expect bigger and better. So overall the best film i have seen this year well worth the watch and i recommend to anyone who looking for full on action and a twist to the story.

Best movie in the resident evil series yet. This film is a must see for any resident evil fan! It's eclectic mix of actors from the previous movies really make the film electric! The storyline takes a good twist. I went to see in 3D at cinema and was really impressed. Can't wait for it to be released on DVD, hope it's here in time for Chrsitmas!
