This is the fifth installment of Paul Anderson's Resident Evil film franchise and I am finding less and less to say about these films. The scenery, and the supporting characters change and Jovovich's heroine gets stronger and more agile, but in the end they...

2.0 out of 5 stars It's all just a little bit of history repeating, 4 Sept. 2014

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
Largely pointless re-hashing of some previously used scenes for demonstration purposes, lots of bullets remarkably missing our heroine and heroes, car chases, monster chases, lumbering axe wielding indestructible monolithic yet largely incompetent monsters, more clones of clones of clones of clones than you can shake a stick at, a pretend deaf daughter, pretend cities, unnecessary slow motion for just about every second of activity. . The delectable actresses give you something to look at, I suppose, but largely and possibly entirely treading water, hoping for part 6, or 7 or maybe 8?

just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. IT DID. Bringing all your favourite characters form the games and making them bad seems to be a habbit they are making. All the acting was rubbish, mixed with a script cheesier than the first original game. All the monsters had charateristics that did not match the games. Overall this movie had a mid-life crisis and was not sure what it was. choosing between fast and furious, expendables, and a jacky chan movie. Residant evil 6 was not as bad as this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Made by amateurs, 5 Sept. 2014
This review is from: Resident Evil: Retribution (DVD + UV Copy) [2012] (DVD)
I have watched all of the "Resident Evil" films and enjoyed them but this was terrible. The acting was not up to standard and the special effects and film sets were poor. The script was amateurish and it felt like there was a whole lot of the film that ended up on the cutting room floor such was the bad editing. One day maybe the "Directors Cut" will improve it but I wouldn't buy this film nor would I pay to rent it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time, 7 Sept. 2014

What an absolute mess of a film.

On reflection the warning signs were there from the outset: the first film in the series eschewed the claustrophobic terror of the STARS rescue mission to Arklay Manor to plough an alternate path that bore little resemblance to the game series mythos.

Here in what is signalled to be the second last in the over-long series of films we have a sub-James Bond Action film that suffers from a disjointed script, risible dialogue and a complete absence of horror.

Save your time. Don't watch this. If you want a true RE experience, get your hands on the recently remastered Resident Evil 4 on the PC or wait a few months for a hi-def version of the first game that appeared recently on the Game Cube.

It's completely beyond me why Capcom did not allow George Romero to helm this film series. His script was faithful and frightening.

1.0 out of 5 stars i have had enough with these films, 27 Dec. 2014
This review is from: Resident Evil: Retribution (DVD + UV Copy) [2012] (DVD)
they should of stopped making these films years ago, but yet it continues with the same plot, same charters and bad CG. the films don't even relate to the games and is always over the top with action and slow motion. if your a fan of the resi franchise don't watch these crappy live action films, watch the CG animation ones instead.
