Anyone who is leaning toward buying this set because of the included book, 'The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy', should be wary - Unlike the product image, which shows the hardcover edition of the book (which is available separately) the version included with this box set is not merely slimmed down, but heavily abridged too - It features many of the images from...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great movies, shame about the box set
I loved all three movies, and I'm sure the blu rays are amazing to watch. But when I received the box set this morning I was really disappointed. For starters there was the random piece of paper stuck to the back which described each of the movies. I don't understand why it was there at all if it wasn't simply going to be the design for the back of the box, as having...

This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Anyone who is leaning toward buying this set because of the included book, 'The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy', should be wary - Unlike the product image, which shows the hardcover edition of the book (which is available separately) the version included with this box set is not merely slimmed down, but heavily abridged too - It features many of the images from the original but almost all the text has been entirely removed. Given that the book allegedly feature rare insight into the intentions of those involved in making this trilogy, it was disappointing to find we only get the pictures - As a bonus addition, it's still a very nice touch, but the differences could be defined more clearly in the product image and description.

(Also, as mentioned elsewhere, the book also isn't quite the right dimensions for the box and requires a piece of polystyrene in order to sit flush with the disc sleeve)

3.0 out of 5 stars Great movies, shame about the box set, 4 Dec 2012

This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I loved all three movies, and I'm sure the blu rays are amazing to watch. But when I received the box set this morning I was really disappointed. For starters there was the random piece of paper stuck to the back which described each of the movies. I don't understand why it was there at all if it wasn't simply going to be the design for the back of the box, as having removed it; my box already has white spots where the glue has damaged it. the booklet of how the movies were made is a nice touch, but I thought it was very cheap to just put a piece of polystyrene in the box so that you could see it. it would have been easy to put an indent in the box so that the blu rays and booklet were the same level and I didn't have to take the blu rays out to get to the booklet. Then I actually opened the blu ray box. 2 out of 5 of the discs don't have a title on them. So it's not that easy to tell which disc is 'Batman Begins', and which disc is 'The Dark Knight'. All the other discs have 'The Dark Knight Rises', or 'The Dark Knight Special Features', and I find that inconsistency and lack of clarity extremely annoying. I realise I'm nit-picking and no one else is probably bothered, but when this came through my door this morning, I expected better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Films Are Amazing, however, 7 Dec 2012

This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Like many others have already written, the overall box set is pretty poor. Glad I pre-ordered it a while back and paid less than current price (Props to Amazon for Pre-Order Promise). The booklet provided is not hard back, which is clearly still pictured. It's not horrible quality, but it's not great either. The little polystyrene to hold it in place is a bit of a joke as well.

Now with the cover sleeve, this is horrible! Like some others have mentioned, it's like the back of a regular Blu-ray with that glue stuff that you get new credit cards with so it's stuck down, but can be removed. So since it has this design, to keep it on there is no good and when you take off the glue bits it rips some of the box off and I now also have a couple white marks.

The discs were also something I noticed right away, could not work out which one was Batman Begins. The other two are fairly straight forward, but the Spanish didn't help. There doesn't appear to be any problems with the play back in anyway.

I have not tried the digital copies just yet, will try them and update!

But overall, there is no questioning the films. All are incredible. But this trilogy boxset is not.

Edit: I have successfully got the digital copies. However I still do not understand why they do not just use iTunes. The setup to get them was a bit of a pain compared to how easy the one's I've got via iTunes in the past.

Edit 2: The digital copies are not HD, and as far as I can see there is no actual video file stored on your computer after downloading. I've check where is says and it's just a bunch of random files.

Also the product description clearly states "Including all three films from Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and a special book, The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy."

However the book provided is "A selection of imagery from The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy."

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay so people need to be careful when writing reviews., 12 Dec 2012
This boxset has just turned up and I've happily opened to find everything as it should be. After reading other user reviews such as unmarked discs, booklet doesn't fit box, Spanish texts etc, I can happily void all buy one of those faults.

Some reviews on here such as the unmarked discs and espanol writing are for THE BLU-RAY BOXSET EDITION, NOT THIS ONE.
USERS NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE REVIEWING THE CORRECT ITEM.
The BLU ray edition has the faults, this one doesn't and I can't make it more clear.
However the one fault I can agree on us the polystyrene insert to keep the book flush to the box. Now that doesn't fuss me as I'm not going to be peering inside when I want my batman fix, am I?

All in all;
QUALITY 10/10
DISCS 10/10
DISC HOLDERS 8/10 (I don't think the flimsy plastic)
OUTER BOX 10/10 (No glue marks)
BOOKLET 9/10 (Has less detail than described but still a great edition).

A must for fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dodgy box set, 5 Dec 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
As another reviewer has mentioned several of the disks are very poorly labelled and the primary printed language appears to be Spanish. Also, having tried to redeem the UV code on Flixster I was presented with an error message asking me to try later. When I tried again, it said that my UV code had already been redeemed so my digital copies are apparently lost in the ether.

Another thing that strikes me as odd is that the box set is labelled as "For rental or resale" which isn't something you typically see on a blu-ray box set. I'm guessing most of the issues are related to the fact that the blu-ray discs are region free...

Films are still great though. I'll update the review if I spot any problems with video or audio quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Bare Bones, 11 Dec 2012
This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I absolutely love these movies on their own and they look spectacular on blu ray particularly The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, i've gotta feeling that's partly due to the use of IMAX cameras during the shooting of those two films. My problem however is the lack of Bonus Material eg. Deleted Scenes, this unfortunately has become a pattern with Nolan's films. the special features on Batman Begins are fairly satisfactory and incredibly interesting, however on The Dark Knight the special features leave a lot to be desired but the documentary entitled, the physiology of Batman, which is a fun watch in a almost pointless bonus features disc. On the Dark Knight Rises it seems that they have learned there lessons, its the best of the three when it comes to bonus features, its pretty spectacular. As a whole though a feel that this set is pretty bare bones, I've heard that around this time next year, Warner Brothers are to release an Ultimate Edition Box Set of the trilogy and this has got me thinking that they are holding back with this set to make the Ultimate Edition all the more spectacular, I can only hope that it will have deleted scenes and a much more comprehensive look at how the trilogy was made, though the Dark Knight Rises bonus features was getting there. In conclusion, for the meanwhile this set is a very good Christmas present and everything a casual viewer would want, though for true bat-fans like myself I feel like they will be left wanting more where the special features are concerned, but the most important thing, is the films themselves and they are as good as ever, and all the better in the stunning clarity of Blu Ray

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty poor effort, 11 Dec 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Very disappointing effort. Everything that is wrong with this product has already been stated. lack of labeling on discs! A piece of paper on the back??? And a book which would be a nice touch, but you need it in the box, otherwise the discs don't fit properly. Terrible effort!!!! Nothing like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings Boxsets i have previously purchased!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product, 3 Jan 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Absolutely fantastic films! I'd strongly recommend buying this set, it quite cheap in relation to buying the films separately and the box it comes in looks epic too. You get a little book with the DVDs which has some pictures of the scenes and art concepts which is really good, buy this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, 3 Jan 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Blu-ray + UV Copy)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
The product arrived quickly and I was so excited to open it, I think I actually made an annoying little squeak when I first saw it and imedietly sat down for a Dark Knight movie marathon. The blu ray looks brilliant, very high quality picture, it's the best way to watch these films. If you haven't seen them already (where the hell have you been for the last 7 years) buy them now you won't be disappointed. The set even comes with a little preview book to the Art of the 'Dark Knight Rises' and great extra clips. Treat yourself.
