BANG!!!!!! JSBX ARE BACK!
Who'd have thought it, Jon Spencer would return with his hell raising rock n roll trio after 8 years and deliver what could be their most potent, most disciplined, most fiery album ever?
As others have pointed out this is The Blues Explosion stripped down to the bare bones of their essence and like a sledgehammer to the temple they deliver. This is the album they have been threatening but have finally unleashed. As much as I like their other albums, I often think they overreached themselves with remixes, collaborations, different version of this, that and other. This album is what you want.
Maybe it was White Stripes, Black Keys and The Kills having such mainstream success that fired Jon Spencer to bring his monstrous Blues Explosion back to show the upstarts how its done. Theres also less self aggrandizing on this one too, he doesnt yell "Blues Explosion" 50 times a song. In fact the whole album sounds like a debut album from a hungry young band not one thats been going for 20 years.
If like me, you love the band but always felt slightly dissapointed by the albums, the wait is over, by the album and know you were right in waiting for this adrenaline shot to the heart...

Thankgod the blues explosion are back. Its been 8years but it's been worth the wait.Banging straight in from first track to last its a journey of trashy groovy ace drumming.Elvis howl and cool licks. The vinyl edition is fantastic!!!warm and fat. This album has gone alongside other recent purchases this year to make 2012 a bumper year for great original rock music. These guys, gallon drunk, black keys, the dynamite pussy club and even jack white have all released stellar albums and coming soon Jim Jones revue new one.Buy this album!!!!The BLUUUUUES IS NUMBER 1!@

5.0 out of 5 stars As above (ie the previous reviewer), 21 Sep 2012

The Blues Explosion have got their inspiration back. While Damage was a good album it refined their sound a bit too much; probably a bad idea. They're much better off jamming and going mental! which is what they do here. Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proper Blues, 25 Feb 2013

This is the real deal. Real blues. Dirty blues. Filthy blues. Not your john paul jones wishy washy same old song blues. This is your ' if howling wolf was alive today' kind of blues. The kind of blues that blows your blues away and makes your blood pump. The best dirty blues since early black keys. As good as a Stooges record. But worthy of no comparisons, its simply a BLUES EXPLOSION.
