4.0 out of 5 stars Conrad Schnitzler - 'Rot' (Plate Lunch), 15 Jan 2008
This review is from: Rot (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1973, this was Conrad Schnitzler's first solo album. For those of you who may not know, Schnitzler was on the very first Tangerine Dream album and a co-founder of Kluster that appeared on their first three lp's before leaving when their name had to be changed to Cluster. 'Rot' has two (2) twenty-minute tracks that 'sort of' picks up where Kluster's third lp 'Eruption' left off. "Meditation" is strangely, yet brilliantly composed and "Krautrock" is more experimental with an unconventional rhythm. Didn't see any liner notes, but I'm assuming that Conrad himself played the cello, mellotron, electronic generator and whatever other instruments were used to create this somewhat of a mind-blowing CD reissue. 'Rot' sounds better while wearing headphones. Forty minutes of uncompromising brain damaging obscure electronic weirdness. Not for the mainstream at heart.
