Relaxing but no improvment in sleep yet

I have suffered with insomnia since childhood and it runs in the family - I don't even know what normal sleep feels like because it never takes me less than an hour to fall asleep. Most nights it takes 2-3 hours, and 5+ hours on a bad night. I also suffer with chronic fatigue syndrome, and I am often kept awake by aches and pains and bladder irritation. Mostly, I just have an inability to mentally switch off, regardless of how tired my body is feeling.
Perhaps that is why this app has yet to bring me to sleep. I have never made it all the way through the recording without having to get up to use the toilet, which cancels out any progress I have made.
The introductory body scan meditation is excellent for helping me relax. The middle and end of the meditation seem to make me wake up again and as my attention span starts to fail I often get bombarded with anxious thoughts.
I will keep persevering with the app a little longer to see if anything changes. If not, I will add it to the list as long as my arm of sleep remedies that didn't work! Fingers crossed.
