Over the years, I've worn many different types of baselayers from a variety of different manufacturers but in terms of wicking performance, these stand out as the best.

I use mine for walking, cycling, kayaking and as a general daily baselayer all year round. In chilly weather, I wear a merino wool layer on top: because merino doesn't wick as effectively as Helly Hansen's 'Dry' range, this provides the best combination of warmth and wicking without any clammy stickiness.

Worn alone in cold weather, they don't provide much warmth and they don't have much wind resistance either but they're not really designed as a thermal layer hence if you're standing around in cold temperatures then you're likely to feel cold. However, worn during activity then they are the best - sweat is wicked away quickly leaving your body still feeling (relatively) fresh but, most importantly, dry. (They're also perfect for dealing with menopausal hot flushes/tropical sweats and night sweats too - although this isn't promoted on their sporty ads and packaging!)

They are true to size. I'm a UK 10-12 and ordered the small size. At first it felt tight due to the close fit but after a few hours, I'd completely forgotten about it as it stretches freely with every move. The close-fit is needed for the best wicking performance and the close-fitting sleeves don't ride up.

Because they wick sweat so effectively, they can be worn for several days without becoming smelly and after washing they they dry quickly too.

Definitely 5-star quality, fit, wicking performance and value for money.

Helly Hansen are always a great fit in the arms and body. They are so light and take up the minimum amount of room, so I take a few with me when skiing or on the mountains. I wear them when cycling as well. So a good all- rounder. Wash really well and last the pace

This is just a bit see through if that is of concern to you. The size medium fits right for a size 12. The length is as shown on the picture. At first it felt too long but actually it's great to have the extra length as shorter tops ride up on running and my purse belt rubs.

Great top, keeps you warm and dry even in the wettest of weathers. Had this on under another top whildt walking for many hours in the rain. My coat had ceased to be waterproof, but this top kept my skin relatively dry and kept me warmer than I would have been in an ordinary t-shirt.

These base layers are an essential item for me as a runner and cyclist. They roll up pretty small to have on you just in case. They are brilliant worn next to the skin, I wear mine under my sports bra in the winter for extra warmth. Tip: DO NOT IRON! I melted myfirst one!

Brilliant product. I wear this by itself with just a cycling jacket on in winter and it keeps you lovely and warm. Just dont iron it like my husband tried to do!

Would definitely purchase another one.

I bought this to wear under a fine knit polo knit jumper as I didn't want anything too bulky but wanted to be warm. It fits lovely and is really warm. I am also going to purchase a short sleeve version.

This is a 'must have' item of clothing for running in cold weather. It is warm yet breathable, expensive but worth it. I thought it was so good I bought two. It washes well and the fit is perfect.
