We went as a whole family to see this film at the cinema today, and it charmed us all. I can't recommend it enough.

I was a little dissapointed with 'Day of the Diesels' as it was a bit dark and sinister at times. No such problems with this new release. It is a lovely story about a mystery engine called Luke who works in the quarry with other narrow gauge engines, but they keep his existance a secret as he believes he has done something very wrong, and will be sent away from Sodor because of it. It takes Thomas (of course) to sort the problem out, and to out-smart the 'devious' diesels in the process. The film also throws up some interesting background to Victor's past.

My 4 year old son sat through the whole film rivited, even refusing to visit the toilet when he needed to because he didn't want to miss a second of it. It easily one of the best Thomas films, and will we be buying on dvd.

What can I say, this is the best CGI special made. It's a shame that this is Nitrogen Studios last production with Thomas & Friends as the animation is to be moved to Arc Productions, but at least Nitrogen had gone out in style. Annie, Clarabel and Skarloey were in perfect character, the music was amazing, the story was amazing, it was not filled with annoying rhyming and alitteration like S13 - 16. I thought the movie would be poor, but I was wrong. I recommend buying the DVD, it's a great movie.

A fantastic piece of film work!
The film offers humour throughout as well as full steamed jeopardy around every corner! Any Thomas fan will be entertained "from start to very end" and with nail biting drama, 'Blue Mountain Mystery' has revived Thomas from the current television series and has proved HiT's excellence with the return of the narrow gauge engines. A fantastic finale for the end of Nitrogen Studios's involvement with the CGI.
Well worth a purchase for Thomas enthusiasts!

This is a fine example of how Thomas should be the main series has become increasingly disappointing as the stories are now identical in content and stale. The movies provide a completely fresh story, interesting characters and independence. This story reintroduces the narrow gauge railway engines from Skarloey Railway and introduces Winston, Merrick, Owen and Luke in a brand new environment of the Blue Mountain Quarry.
With an intriguing plot and some actual action scenes which are rarely seen in the Thomas modern era up to this point this film does the brand justice and reinvigorates my hope that series 16 will actually contain some sorely needed fresh content.
Even Diesel is more interesting in this film he only ever seems to be portrayed well in the films as he actively seeks to get rid of an engine and beat Thomas to the punchline. This makes up for the poor appearance of the Diesels in The Day of Diesels and also thankfully pulls away from the huge amounts of extended dialogue seen in the previous film. A point change in the right direction, i just hope Thomas follows it in the following series.

I will be honest, I've been a MASSIVE critic of the animated series. Not because of the animation; it is brilliant and it REALLY excels here, but because of the poor writing of one Sharon Miller. When I heard of this film I expected it to be poor... oh how wrong I was!

It is absolutely brilliant! The engines look great, the plot is fantastic (if a little bit like Hero of the Rails) and it's entertaining and EDUCATIONAL! Kids learn about trust, patience and not to jump to conclusions. Not only that, but they learn a few differences between Standard and Narrow Gauges and, the best bit, THREE animated remakes of classic episodes! I can probably say this is down to the script editor and the fantastic Nitrogen Studios producer and director.

Add to that some really catchy music, and you have a fantastic film that I can't recommend highly enough!

I bought this for my nephew and i have to say what an amazing addition to the Thomas family!.The story is great really well thought out with lots happening, without giving too much away there are 4 new additions to Sodor, and it also explains how Victor came to to the island of Sodor. I thought this was alot better than Day of the Diesels which i thought had quite a menacing feel for younger audiences. This is a must for any Thomas fan. I would recommend this 100%. Buy this you will NOT be disappointed!

My 3 and a half year old son loves Thomas and has many DVD's. I brought this as the price was good and the other reviews were good too.
Since giving it my son, we have watched it most days and 2-3 times a day on the weekends!!!
I really like the new animated format of the new DVD's and this is no exception.
The story is good and it introduces you better to characters that you have only met briefly in other DVD's. It keeps my son entertained for hours. Highly recommended viewing.

My 3 year old son is a Thomas fanatic, and this, for him, was the icing on the cake. The story is nice and simple, but not trivial. It has all the old characters, plus a few new engines. It has good animation, and links to other stroies as well. The 'Bonus' material. for once is good as well. If you have a Thomas lover in the family, then this will keep them happy for some time

I was so pleased to see that I didn't have to wait for Easter for the DVD to be released given that the movie was released in September. My son - 3 1/2 years old is a big fan of Thomas and this movie is fantastic follow up to Misty Island. Great story, lovely animation (perfect for his age) and Michael Angelis voice is like a spell - my son loves it!

My son is a Thomas tank engine fanatic and I bought this film a few days before his 3rd birthday not expecting it to arrive until 3days after his birthday but it actually turned up on the day, he was a very happy boy.

The film has a good story line and a great introduction to all the new Thomas tank engine sets on sale now.
