Guthrie comes from a great back ground of bands, and is in no way a weak guitarist. This CD showcases his creativity showing his many styles of playing, from jazz to hard rock. It has some excellent shred in it as well. His playing is sweet and clean, and his music is not predictable at all. The music on this disk flow nicely and makes you want to listen over and over again, with the volume up. Erotic Cakes is a must have disk for the guitar fanatic, don't miss this one.

This album is one of the most impressive guitar albums ever made. It has really gorgeous songs in it, both complex and musical at the same time. I've also listened to guitarists like Michael Angelo Batio, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, and so forth. But Guthrie Govan is very versatile and capable of doing pretty much everything on the electric guitar.

Guthrie's music is not only interesting for guitar players though. The main instrument in his music is of course the guitar, but the presence of beautiful melodies and fine song structures makes this music overall great.

This album should be right up there with other guitar classics like "Passion and Warfare" by Steve Vai and "Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani. This is due to songs like Waves,Wonderful Slippery Thing,Fives,Sevens, Erotic Cakes and Ner Ner.

After years of Satch and Vai at the throne we've come to expect anything else as second best and sure to disappoint. Not Guthrie... this album comes as a massive surprise, sending a real message to anybody looking for another virtuoso to stock up on, unfortunately there isn't a lot of Guthrie out there so for now we have to let this album role around our taste buds as long as possible and enjoy what can only be described as flaming incredible. Having know of Guthrie through his guitar tuition work for a number of years now I most certainly expected technical guitar work, what I didn't expect was a product of such incredible imagination and passion, first class production and a selection of melodies and harmonies that will dazzle your ears, wear your best headphones and get a load of this!

This is a terrific album by a guitarist who should be more well known amongst the wider general public. If you enjoy the likes of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson or Andy Timmons you will absolutely love this album.

Calling all guitarists! Buy this cd - Guthrie Govan is without doubt a leading light in world of guitar players in any generation. He stands outside the main group of hugely talented guitar players in the world. Yes he has an amazing command of the guitar, incredible technique, gorgeous tones, can play in any style but most of all he tells musical stories and is funny. He reminds me of Danny Gatton in the same way as the late great Danny Gatton used his huge talent to bring humour into the performance. A must have cd!

I have been listening to bands such as Liquid Tension Experiment and Dream Theatre, both brilliant.
This album though... speachless! After hearing the song "Erotic Cakes" I fell in love - the tempo change at minute 2 just.... no words to describe it.

Truly beautiful album!

Guthrie is a brilliant guitarist and his albums are instrumental i.e. no vocals. You have to be into this type of music or appreciate guitar playing at its best. Jimi Hendrix was purported to have been heading this way with his music.

I'll keep it short - this is incredible, utterly outstanding, just go see his vids on youtube to see what he can do - this album is beautiful, innovative, mesmerising and journeyful (if that's a word) - just do it!

Absolutely fantastic. It won't be for everyone, but those who can appreciate some great guitar playing are in for a treat. The clean solo in the middle of the song ner Ner is especially fantastic.

Guthrie is one of the best guitarists of the modern age and not just another "shredder". Go and watch some of the video stuff online. Then come back here and buy it. Recommended.
