TOP 500 REVIEWERon 15 September 2014
It's great when a product works so well that you don't even need to worry about its warranty. Nonetheless, my review reflects my experiences when I needed a little problem looked after.

Basically, I had a little problem with my Powergen 12,000mah battery pack after 3 months usage. Basically the input where its charging wire should affix, resulted in a loose connection, which meant I was unable to get a stable charge into the battery pack for long. I wrote a review which reflected my experiences, and before saying another word, to my astonishment, 'E-trading' were apologising and offered to replace it. Frankly that is utterly outstanding customer service!

A couple of days later I'd taken delivery of its replacement, and so I simply had to delete my initial review, and moreover replace it with this advice: have every confidence when buying from 'E-trading', as their 'no quibble' customer service is second to none. If yours develops a fault within its warranty period, I can tell you from experience that you will definitely want to be dealing with E-trading. In other words, buy this battery pack and I can assure you, that you will be in the right hands and very well looked after, should anything go wrong within its warranty period. Utterly excellent! And the battery pack is, otherwise, very good too. Albeit, to be perfectly frank, were I to purchase another I'd likely go for an even higher powered one - as this will only charge my Kindle, S2 and Mp3 player before then needing a recharge. HTH

This is a great external / back up battery especially if you are away from a power source for a few days with power hungry devices. It's a tad heavy for a handbag (but if you're already lugging around an iPad you'll likely not notice)

I have purchased this for hubby & I to take to festivals this year and wanted to test it out at home first. So how much juice can I get for my specific device?
I initially thought that the external capacity divided by my phone battery capacity would give a good indication (so 12000 / 1440 = 8.3 full charges).
However I read in a previous review that the actual charge emitted on external batteries would be about 70% effective (so 8.3 x 0.7 = 5.8 full charges). From there I am expecting between 5 and 6 full charges...

Well after a couple of weeks of testing I have an average result of 538% worth of charge to an iPhone5 battery before the PowerGen 12000mAh is spent. So this would give my iPhone5 roughly 6 full charges (as I try to plug my phone in around the "10% battery life" warning anyway). Perfect!!!

Aditional info:
My Powergen 12000mAh arrived about 3/4 charged so could have used it straight away but as I needed it fully charged for my testing I had to plug it in.
From 0 to 100% charge for the PowerGen 12000mAh takes about 4 hours from mains (i haven't tried from a computer yet).
From 10 to 100% charge for my iPhone5 on the PowerGen it takes about 1hr 40m

I plan to buy one of the smaller capacity ones for my handbag just for when my phone needs a quick boost on a night out.
A great product, I highly recommend!

Edit: the charger is compatible with the iphone 5 but you need to use your own iphone 5 usb cable with it. The iphone 5 connector is not included. I use a dual usb (iphone 5 and mini usb) which is small compact and the mini usb can charge the device itself so i carry around less items.

The item was very well made and felt very solid. It also came with clear instructions. Sadly,it would not charge to more than two out of the four indicator lights and did not seem to be able to hold a full capacity charge. Item sent back as faulty.

I purchased the 12000mAh model, as I travel a lot, and sometimes have no sockets. now having the device for a couple of weeks, I have used it, on a plane, in the car, and during camping. I usually carry a few devices with me, so the three ports are very handy for charging them all at the same time.

since I bought it, I have only had to charge the device twice! it holds the charge extremely well. I always fully charge each of my phones, and there is still charge left to charge them again.
great product, and for a good price!

It will stop charging after several uses and they only give 30 days to return it. I used mine less than 5 times in the last three months as I only really needed it for long journeys. I brought it April 30th and now it is useless, it won't even charge 5% of my phone before it gives up and that is after me charging it for a day so it is fully charged. I see other reviewers who have had it a couple of months have found the same thing.

When I first got my powergen 12000 I was thoroughly impressed. It did take a while to charge up the first time but after that it was fairly quick and the power output was more than exceptional.
However as in most cases, the one time when I needed it most it let me down, when I connected the juice pack & my phone (4s) I would get the charging screen but no power would actually transfer into my phone. Very disappointed at the time, after a bit of a closer look. I came to the conclusion that it is the universal ended cable provided that was the problem. I now use a standard apple cable and it works just as good as before.

Overall, I was a little upset that what appeared to be such a great product for such a small amount was let down simply by a cheap cable. Other than that, so far, 5/5

Unit arrived promptly. Great product, charges up to 3 units at once and comes with 2 USB leads and several interchangeable connectors for charging iphone, blackberry, kindle etc. All worked fine apart from one minor issue that was very quickly rectified by the seller - superb customer service. Highly recommend product and seller.

I bought this mainly for use at festivals - didn't fancy handing my phone over to the places who charge you £5 for 30 minutes. Have just been away for a weekend and considering how quickly the battery on an iPhone 5 runs out, this was used to keep me up to 100% all weekend. I also charged up 3 other iPhone when I was there. None of them were completely flat but ranged from 20% to 60% and all were back up to 90-100% range.

The unit still had 2 lights showing when I got home so would have been good for a few more charges. Considering the price, you can't go wrong with it. They could include an 8 pin adapter to be really amazing but they're available pretty cheaply (<£5) so it's not the end of the world.

Buy one now!!

The charger worked as described and seems to have adequate power storage to cope with an iPhone and iPad at the same time. The battery is NOT supplied with a power plug and it is not really an option to try to charge it from a USB port, but some machines may supply enough current for it to work, certainly my Apple iMac doesn't. However, it is just a matter of plugging the iPhone5 supplied USB lead into a power plug on the battery and then it charges correctly. The one criticism is that the device is not supplied with an iPhone5 adapter (it has every other type of adapter). However, this is not a show stopper as the iPhone5 comes with its own USB cable and that can be plugged directly into the battery which works fine.

I wanted to be able to use my iPhone, on a long journey, without having to worry about the battery running low. This product resolves that issue. I also tried charging my iPad 3. Again, no issue. I noticed that some reviewers remarked on it not being compatible with iPhone 5. There are connectors in the box for many different devices. You just attache them onto the supplied USB cable as required. This is also how the product is charged. It is connected to an appropriate USB device - I charge the PowerGen from my Mac Book Pro. Now, it is true that there are connectors provided that fits the iPhone 3/4 and the iPad. However, there is no connector for the iPhone 5, since this is of a different design to previous models. This is not a major issue. It is simply a matter of carrying your iPhone 5 USB cable with you. You plug this into the device as required and charge the phone in this way. The absence of a specific iPhone 5 connector is the reason for the 4 star review. Otherwise, I am very happy with the product.
