The storylines continue to get weaker
on 8 January 2013
It is pleasant watching, as always, but the decline, which started around series four, continues its downhill path. The formula is still there, but the storylines are becoming more contrived, making it harder to relate.
The stand-out episode is the most original and the most creative in the series, where Carla realises that her recently deceased husband had another wife. The episode barely sets a foot inside the bar and if only this level of quality had been maintained, this series could have got five stars from me.
The main thread running through the series is Rebecca's relationship with a wealthy, ruthless, upper-class English businessman and at least this gives her character a bit more substance than in previous series, where she has been a weak link.
