5.0 out of 5 stars Evocative
A wonderfully evocative album accentuating Milos' expressive playing. No 'playing by numbers' here. A worthy successor to Mediterraneo.

Milos continues his journey to bring the classical guitar to a wider audience, hopefully inspiring a new generation of youngsters.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult second album syndrome
It's interesting to see that the fabled "Difficult Second Album Syndrome" doesn't only exist in the pop and rock world. As with another person reviewing this album, I also bought the first CD and went to see him live and so I was really looking forward to the release of Latino. I can only say that it is indeed very disappointing. When you consider the range of music...

4.0 out of 5 stars fab but still growing into it, 14 Mar 2014

Anything by Milos is going to be fabulous. I hoped for something a bit more obviously flamenco to be included. Still growing into the album so given it stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well enough played, but..., 23 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Most of this CD is widely recorded Latin American favourites with an emphasis on gentle tinkling rather than rhythmic vitality. It's mostly well enough played though Brouwer's A Day in November and Villa-Lobos's Mazurka are both given leaden performances. The solo pieces are interspersed with some guitar and orchestra easy-listening arrangements. If you're new to Latin American music for classical guitar you'll probably be very happy, especially if you want some gentle background music (the rhythms of La Cumparsita need to be more accented, they're not meant to be soporific like this). If you are already a guitar fan you'll know there's much better out there - I'm particularly fond of Marcelo Kayath and Victor Villadangos's recordings, as well as better known players like John Williams, Craig Ogden and Eduardo Fernandez who've all recorded excellent Latin collections.

I had expected this to be more "Latin" music as per the heading. Beautifully played by Milos though, so enjoyed it anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tango music, 21 Jan 2013

Recommend this to anyone - the young and supple can tango round the sitting room, the old with stiff joints will be galvanised into movement and those in between can enjoy exciting music, beautifully played.
